Dick's Flips-Opposes NRA

This is nothing but a publicity stunt by Dicks and another reason why I won't shop there.

NONE of the Dicks Sporting Good's store ever sold any AR15's in this part of South Texas. Nor did they ever stock them since opening up their stores down here.

They really need to rename themselves as Dicks Golf store cause that's all they sell down here.

If you read the company's statement about this issue, they make reference to selling the Parkland shooter a shotgun, saying that he bought it legally from them, and while it wasn't used in the shooting, it could have been. (Italics added.) This apparently was their rationale for making this change in policy, or else why mention it? So, their policy change was based on selling a gun that that wasn't illegal, wasn't used, and only might have been.

This sounds like to me that they are afraid they will be blamed for selling the shooter a gun of any kind, even if it wasn't used, and are trying to avoid that from a PR standpoint. Yes, I am cynical and doubt their corporate motives.
That makes perfect sense, and they would rather lose us as customers vs the lefties.

Absolutely the WORST service I've gotten in DECADES in a store was in Dick's.

They will look right at you, and pretend you're not there. If you have to stop THREE different people to get help, they clearly don't want your business.

I don't need to boycott them. By refusing to provide service, even when I go there, they boycott THEMSELVES.

And that's apart from them usually having NOTHING I want, including handguns, which they don't sell here.

If I want to buy a gun in a store, I go to Goschinski's Fin, Feather, Fur Outfitters. They have a good selection, good prices, and sales people who aren't rude jackasses. They're the "anti-Dicks".

The single time I purchased a firearm at Dick's, I was treated okay by the folks in "The Lodge" area of the store, but when I was ready to leave, I had to wait for a manager to escort me and a disassembled, boxed firearm out to my car. Not just out of the store, but all the way to my car. Between that incident and a time before that where I couldn't get anyone to assist me with SHOES, I was done with Dick's Sporting Goods.

Would not step foot in the place, not even for golf equipment.
Past experience, their staff acted like they were doing you a favor to wait on you.
As a previous post put it, Their name says it all! ;)

Just a glorified department store as far as I'm concerned. Never really had any use for Dick's. Bought ammo there once during the great shortage. Otherwise, they don't even exist to me. They will be another "Sports Authority" (i.e., bankrupt and liquidated) before too long.

I TRIED to buy ammunition from them once. It took up a good two hours, and in the end they didn't have what I wanted.

Addendum: I literally drove to Walmart and back before I could get somebody at Dicks to even acknowledge my existence.

Yeah, they are famous for that. Not enough staff I would guess and none of them knowledgeable... plus childish company rules that insult the intelligence of its customers. No thanks.

I remember shopping the handgun and rifle display at my local Galyan's store in the late 1990's, until they were purchased by Dick's. They immediately stopped handgun sales so I never went back there for anything. This new move by them doesn't surprise me.

One more reason to support your local owned gun shop if you are lucky enough to have one.
I have several and between them I can order and take delivery of anything I want or need, in addition to actual gunsmithing if needed. I love keeping my $ local and spending it where the owner knows my name.
Screw Dicks.

My one experience in their Field and Stream store was even worse. The staff wouldn't wait on me at all. After a half hour I left. I've never gone back. Now I have another reason not to go there.

As the successor to Sports Authority the actions of Dick's don't surprise me. Years ago, I tried to buy some .308 shells at Sports Authority at one of their stores in Maryland. That was around the time the sniper John Muhammed and his boy companion were at large. So Sports Authority took it upon themselves to demand that I sign a register of ammunition sales. I think I told them to
"Forget it" (I was trying to behave myself).
