A 3rd Generation single stack Stainless .40cal. DAO pistol.

If they did, what's the model # and how rare is it? I have a 4046 which is an impressive piece but the grip is a little wide for me.

Thanks

Yeah, but the cases are about 1/8" longer. They are called 10mm's. Seriously, Bomar made a .40 cal barrel to retrofit to the 10 mm frame/slide. If you can find one, that's about the only way to have a single stack .40. I guess you could have your 10 mm barrel bushed and recut for .40, but the bullet wuold have a jump to make to the rifling. Maybe no worse than a revolver. Seems like there was a post here a while back where someone did that.

I'm not sure of the model number, but S&W did make a DAO version of the original 4013. I believe the model may be 4053 or 4043.

The 4053 and 4054 are what you may be looking for.

The 4054 is a bit rare as only 154 units were produced, IIRC. Regards 18DAI.

The 4053 and 4054 are aluminum, not stainless. The only compact stainless model was the 4056TSW, which was only made in 1997.

There's a 4056 TSW on Gun Broker right now with a BIN price of $550.

The 4056TSW is a double stack mag= same width
Go with the older 4053, which is an excellent carry piece
