I am about to pick up a nice 4006, and it comes with Hogues, instead of the factory grips.
I will probably leave the Hogues on, but because I am neurotic, I want to have original with it.

The reason I ask on the sizes is, I have seen several pictures of some 3rd gen pistols, and in these pictures were a 2nd set of S&W grips. From the angle, it appeared that the alternate grip had a lager beavertail.
Am I seeing things?

If I'm correct, anybody know the P#?

Thanks.

IN THE 59 SERIES AND THE 4500 FULL SIZE SERIES , S&W OFFERED BOTH A FLAT AND ARCHED GRIP. FLAT FOR SMALL TO MEDIUM SIZED HANDS AND ARCHED FOR MED TO LARGE SIZED HANDS. JP

In the large framed pistols (10mm and .45), I prefer the straight grip. However, in the double stack 5900 series (and 4006), I go for the curved grip. It's just a matter of personal preference.

In the 4006, the curved is #203450000 and the straight is #203610000. The straight grip was standard on the 4006. You can order them from S&W direct or from Brownell's. HTH

Thanks for the input guys. I'm torn on the gun, as I am swapping a gun I never shoot for one.

Dollar for dollar it's a good trade, have plenty of other guns, just no 40's.

not to hijack this thread...but I have a 5906 with a curved grip. I was wondering if the flat 4006 grip fit. If so I might order one to see if it fits my hands better as they are on the small/med side.

Found a set of 4006 grips on GB, as long as nobody bids against me, I might get em for $10
