Police in Mission say they are seeking the owner of half a kilogram of cocaine that was hidden in a public restroom’s ceiling and anyone who wants to claim the drugs should bring “proof of purchase.”

RCMP Cpl. Harrison Mohr says officers will be happy to set up an interview at the owner’s convenience.

...He says the drugs were divided into several packages, and it’s believed they were hidden for a drug dealer to pick up.

Mohr says whoever hid the drugs hasn’t been identified, but “jail cell No. 3” is waiting for anyone who wants to claim them...

“If the drugs are yours and you want to report them lost or stolen, please call Mission RCMP”...
They were found by a maintenance man working in the washroom. Presumably there wasn't time to set up a hidden camera or tracking device.

Cpl. Mohr is the Media Relations Officer here and has written a number of humorous reports about local police activity, like the driver who successfully swerved to avoid a deer but was unsuccessful in avoidng a hemlock tree that had sneakily planted itself by the roadside some time in the last 75 years.

There is a rural road through the mountains that I found out later, was notorious as a drop spot for the local drug trade.
I had noticed boxes sitting on the side of the road before and stopped for a look-see. In the past I have found tools and materials (one time a portable radio) that dropped of some ones work truck.
One look inside that box and I saw, and smelled, drug packages of all shapes and sizes; I got back in my car and left the area, leaving the box behind.
Later I learned that was a favorite spot for both the dealers and police to make each other's acquaintance.
The cops would see a box, move back up the hill and wait for a pickup, then when a pickup was made, they would come on down for the meet and greet.
Never stopped on that road again.

When i was a rookie, I was on night shift with another Officer.
We were driving down a road and saw a guy stop his vehicle, get out and put a package by the side of the road.
After he left we checked out the package and there were drugs inside, so we parked where we could watch the package.
A short time later a car pulled up by the package and the driver got out and picked up the drugs. We stopped him and got him and the drugs. He was quite surprised.

I was up in the woods cutting fire wood one day. Was taking a break.. car stopped someone got out..a gal. ran into the woods scrabbled around a little got up and got back in the car. took off. Being curious I went over and found a box buried in the woods. opened it up...$600 in the box. Drugger type lived up the road at the end of the woods about 1/2 mile. Never found anything there again
