I have a PC 642 and 442 but miss the option to shoot in SA. My 60-3 is SA/DA and a great gun, but on the heavy side for concealed EDC most of the year. I've learned the Sig P365 falls in the same category regarding bulk and weight (for me) in warmer weather.

LGS had a selection of 637-2s at $499. The first one he brought out was made 8/20/21. It was blemish free, barrel was straight, had a .003"/004" BC gap (.004"/.005" with the cylinder held to the rear) and a zero creep SA pull of 3.25 lbs. Couldn't measure DA, but it was typically heavy (over 10 lbs) and smooth with a noticeable hitch just before the hammer falls. Most likely hand to extractor star is fitted tight but the trigger could be pulled smoothly all the way through or staged if desired, (I'm not a fan of staging). S&W got this one right. Sold.

Put 100 rounds of .38 130 gr FMJ and 15 rounds of Hornady 115 gr Critical Defense through it at the range today and was impressed at how accurate and easy to shoot gun was at 7 and 10 yards. As expected, no hiccups. Target is the very first 5 shots out of the gun in SA at 15'. After getting used to the trigger in D/A bottom target holes with the heavy X's were shot rapid fire in DA, (pulled 2 shots out the picture). Love it. Not a target pistol and at 71 with eyes and hands to match I'm no Miculek, but good enough for the SD purposes this gun was designed for.

Very nice!

It must be J frame week. I only had two, a beautiful nickel 34-1 with Sambar stag grips and a 640 no dash but yesterday walked into my local shop to discuss consigning an M1 and right there in front of me was a beautiful little J frame. I thought it was a chiefs special but no it was a 38 S&W Terrier 32-1. At first I put it down thinking I don't need another caliber, especially one I don't have dies for.

Well I have acquired a love of snub nose revolvers. All last evening I researched the 38 S&W cartridge and found that the dies sold by several companies for that caliber are 38 Auto / super dies. Also the cartridges use a regular 38 Special shell holder. I was delighted to discover this since I have both 38 super dies and 38 special for my Dillon press. I further researched bullets, .361 diameter 145 gn and brass and located a good cheap source of both.

So today I went back to the shop and walked out with a very nice Terrier. The owner wasn't there, he was out picking up his tractor, but his helper called him and got a price, $460 out the door. I just couldn't refuse that and it came with almost a full box of ammo and a very nice lined leather holster.

It's in 90% or slightly better shape with a few spots on the right side plate. I don't believe it had been shot more than a few rounds and then put in the sock drawer or on a shelf. It was dirty from dust and dry oil but not from shooting.

I took the side plate off and it looked great inside. I cleaned it up and put a couple microscopic drops of oil on a few contact surfaces and pivot points. After a little oil on the hammer and trigger it functioned like new. Now I just need to shoot it.

The SN is R578xx. Any idea of age?

You're on the right track.

People who carry J-Frame for EDC self defense need to carry three of them, for New York reloads in the event they ever seriously need them.

I'd love to find a modern .38 S&W for Good Wife. Because of her ex boyfriend Authoritis, she can no longer shoot her .38 special LadySmith and .38 S&W is just mild enough with enough stopping power to do the job. I may resize some .38 S&W rounds to fit her LadySmith.

May I suggest you try a 32 cal J frame for the wife! Even better if you can find a 32 Mag J frame. Then you will have the option of 32 S&W or
2 H&R mag. My daughter loves her 632 but HER daughter wants my 696(44SPL), she's a shooter!
