Differences between the Pro9 and the basic 9FS?

There are 2 models on the S&W site with 5" bbls. One is the M&P9L and one is the M&P9. The M&P9 shows a lower trigger pull than the M&P 9mm (4.25"bbl). The 9 is lower list price than the 9L.
The site isn't worth much. I cannot see how many mags are included. The only apparent differences are the bbl. length and the trigger pull.
Oh, the M&P9 has fiber optic sights.

There were actually two different Pro Series M&P 9s'. The first out had the 5" slide, fiber optic front with black extended rear, lighter trigger. The newer other Pro Series has 4.25" slide, night sights and the lighter trigger.
Do the Pros have match-grade barrels? They appear to be performance shop pistols on the S&W site. If they do NOT have match-grade barrels, does anyone know if the S&W barrels on the Midway site or Storm Lake barrels are more accurate than the stock Pro barrel?

They have standard barrels, they aren't Bullseye guns, but I see little to gained by replacing the barrel. Spend your money to find a load that your gun likes and enjoy it.
Pro 5": The only reason to buy this gun is for the longer sight radius. Trigger isn't worth the extra money because all they did was use a different sear and the take up grit, heavy pull, over travel, etc. are about the same as any other M&P. Seems that the taller FO front sight makes the gun shoot low. Mine did so I replaced them. Barrel is same production grade and twist only .75" longer.
Pro 4.25": Again, trigger isn't worth it. But, if the gun is only $80 more than 9FS and it has the tritium sights that you want, that would be the reason to buy this model. The Trijicon's I put on my Pro 5: were $110.

I have both the 9 Pros: 4.25 bbl and 5 " bbl.
Both triggers are the same, about 4 1/2 #. Tthe triggers suit me just fine, being an old revolver shooter. The first pull is long, but if you learn to come back to reset instead of all the way out, subsequent pulls are shorter. Don't evaluate the trigger until it's been shot about 500 times.
The sights on the 4.25 are night sights, making it more suitable for duty carry or personal protection.
The 5" Pro has FO sights, which are great for the IDPA/SSP and USPSA/ Production I shoot. The gun shoots to point of aim with 124gr FMJ or HP minor power.
I was on the 100yd range checking the stability of my handloads in the 5" Pro when a group with a muzzleloading rifle (who could not get a shot on paper at 100yds) made a snotty remark "what do you expect to hit at 100yds with that little pistol?"
On their many trips to search for a hole in their target (in vain) they had left a 2L drink bottle sitting by their target. Knowing that the 9mm drops about a foot at 100yds, I carefully rested the pistol and squeezed off a shot aiming at the cap. THE BOTTLE EXPLODED.
As to aftermarket "match" barrels for the M&P pistols, they usually just have tighter chambers. One of our shooters bought the most expensive "match" barrel available, then found he had many failures to feed with the ammo he was using. So he had the chamber jugged out for reliable feeding, negating any improvement in the aftermarket barrel. Oh well, some people just have to start modifying any gun they get.
