I've noticed several different options/prices online and was curious about the differences.

I'm currently looking at this gun for my son. (Who am I kidding?)
Smith and Wesson M&P 1522 .22LR 16-inch 25rd Black THrd Online Gun Store

I've also noticed several others without flash suppressors that are listed for substantially more $. Just curious about the differences.

This has been a great place to learn! I've already got 800+ rounds stashed in the basement...You know...Just because!

Welcome to the forum. The 15-22 rifles without the FH is for the compliant states or if you don't want one. In most cases the ones without the FH also have a pinned stock that does not collapse. The link you provided is the one you should get , unless you are in a state that needs the stock pinned and does not allow the FH.

To add to the previous...

This version is less expensive because it does not have the magpul furniture (front/rear folding sights, pistol grip, butt stock). These items, purchased separately are $150 or more.

^^^^^ What he said. Also noted looking at the link and other 15-22 rifles, some are the PC( Performance center) models. Hence the much higher price.

I'm in Ohio, so I should be able to purchase anything...In theory.

I knew about the Magpul edition, but the others had me baffled.
What is FH? Thanks for all the help!

It's not easy to educate myself on the different choices with a 14 y.o. looking over my shoulder with cash in hand.

FH is the Flash Hider( Flash Supressor) . You and your son will have fun with the 15-22. You mind as well stock up on magazines and ammo.

FH is a flash hider, what you called a flash suppressor.

It means that the barrel is threaded..

It's OK to admit you bought it for YOU. The surprising thing I have found is number of guys on this board won't admit that the 15-22 they bought is for them. Seems that the questions are usually posed as to find information for the wife or the sons gun. I am proud to say I bought the 15-22 for ME ,I'm a 59 year old man! Its OK for an adult male to OPENLY own one, there shouldn't be a stigma that a .22 is not manly enough to own. Remember its not the size of the bullet, its how well you shoot it.

Not really pertinent to the question but I agree. My 15/22 is mine. I have a SF on it and it's about the cheapest and silliest fun I have shooting. I've spent as much refurnishing it as any AR I have ever owned. Love mine and don't give a flip who knows it. If they don't like it, I'll introduce them to the one I call "MR. Barrett." :D

No doubt!
Totally agree...
Except for the fact my son has saved all his chore/Christmas money to purchase this gun.

Now, I am totally in. Love the form and function. I'm totally familiar with the M4, and this is closest to that.

( I might be as excited as he is)
This will be his gun. I will get to shoot it. And train him.

Still a good deal to spend time with my son when little else will captivate his attention. ( Except girls )

I kick myself daily for not buying a special "group buy" M4 while deployed. Custom engraved with the mission for roughly $900.

No issue here with the smaller caliber. Hell, it's cheaper!

I didn't get MR. Barrett for $900. LOL

What am I then, "I" bought 3 for "ME!!!" ;) (I just love these things) Actually trying to convince myself to buy an Innovative Arms MP15-22 with the integrated suppressor. :) (It's a sickness I tell ya)

I will let my son and daughter shoot them now and then tho.....

Just got my innovative arms back from NFA jail... It shoots really well, easy to clean, quiet with hv ammo. Sent them one of my 15-22 rather than buying new. ~600+200.

I chrono'd m-22 ammo rated at 1255fps at 875-950fps out of the gun, ie, subsonic.

Took 6 months for the form 3 and form 4 to clear. Only downside is you can't take the barrel off for cleaning. It also means you are 'stuck' with the quad handrail.

JbTech, IMHO that is the one you should get. I bought one for myself( I said it) and just love it. I think you and your son will also love it. I keep all my rifles simple, just putting a sling and optics on them because I just plink with it.

Mine was bought for me!
I'm not scaaaaaaared to admit it. Hehehe
Was my first AR type platform, have now got 2 more ARs on order.
9mm and .223/5.56. :D

If the hook of this transfers on to those then I am screwed.

Oh well, there it is. :D

Rob.

I just realised something that is relevant to my last post.

It HAS transferred on to other firearms.... ;)

I am awaiting parts to be delivered for the rifles that I don't yet have????

Man I HAVE GOT IT BAD!!!! :D

My salary seems to disappear faster than a junkies welfare cheq!!!

HELP!!!!!!!!

Rob.

PS, don't no one tell the wife!!! Lmao.

Lol pretty soon you'll be running down to your local gunshop in your tracksuit bottoms, all hanging down your *** with the bottoms tucked into your socks, in a Superdry jacket, and hanging outside begging those more responsible and careful with their cash to lend you a tenner for a box of eley tenex.

Bods to the Mrs...just a word to the wise though, remember those South Africans vrou's have ears like an Elephant, can sniff better than an Aardvark and bite worse than a Great White...she already knows brother, just never give her a reason to call you on it...haha.....Im just happy my vrou prefers the Anschutz. Lol everytime i mention triggers i swear her accent gets stronger.
Remember this is only a one shot deal....do what makes you happy (within ethics and laws etc etc blah blah)
