Different ammo

While shooting in my brother in laws back yard I got a chance to shoot some steel and aluminum case ammo through my SD9VE and my new Shield 9. It ate it up, anything I sent through it. I really like these two 9mm pistols. Only thing I haven't tried is reloads or cast ammo. Thinking about looking in to it.
Any thoughts or comments???

Steel and aluminum cases work just fine if you don't reload they are a cheaper alternative. Personally I reload and wouldn't consider buying ammo that I could reuse.

my shield chokes on Steel cased Tula, but does just fine with the Fed aluminum, the only problem I have with that stuff is that it just not all that accurate. With Brass 9 easily found at 49.99 a box these day, I don't bother with it anymore.

Yes, if your particular gun will tolerate it.

Ive been through a few boxes of the "Forged" shown above. Its Ok, cheap, gets rounds downrange, seemed quite dirty to me. I usually stick with brass...but thats just me.

I have always used brass as that's all the range I go to allows. But I had an opportunity to try some different ammo so I figured what the heck.

My brother in law reloads as well and he only saves brass. I was thinking of reloading myself, I've been researching it. All the manuals say not to use reloads, do the SW autos do well with reloads?

Ahh, you saw that huh? [emoji6]
It was manufactured in the Spreewerk plant in Germany in March 1944. My father brought it home from WWII. There's actually a pretty cool story behind it as my father was in the Philippines during the war.
It has sat wrapped in a towel for decades and being one of the young kids I never heard or knew of my dads gun collection. After recently getting into firearms, one of my older brothers who became the caretaker of my dads collection after he passed asked me if I wanted to see the collection. I said yes of course. The P38 is not even the most interesting thing in the collection but it's one of several I took possession of.

It's in excellent condition and actually more accurate than my Shield and the SD9VE.

6 rounds, three holes.

I've just stayed away from steel to avoid whatever extra wear it may cause.
