I'm sure this has been said before, but how about if they are so set on the lock... Maybe put is somewhere where it isn't so obnoxious! I checked out an engraved Model 29 and the first thing my eye went to was the big black spot in the side. It wrecks the look! There has to be an non-patented spot left for some savvy engineer to come up with. Taurus has a good thing hiding it in the hammer, Ruger was brilliant hiding it under the grip, and I have been told Glock stuffed it into the bottom of the grip frame. But Smith and Wesson slaps it right into the side plate??? SMITH AND WESSON, WHAT GIVES?

EDIT: Before I get slapped around for being a "IL SUX" person... This is just a request to put it somewhere less painful. I don't know it Ruger owns the "under the grip" idea but that is brilliant. Even better is the option of drilling out the grip if you want to but not doing it in the factory. BRILLIANT!!! Can we all come together on a general consensus on where we would like it placed? (circle file not an option)

I admit to second hand information. I am told it is in the hollow that most people place a grip plug. No idea if it was model specific, gen specific, or other. My point is only that if it is true it is very unobtrusive. That is my goal to Smith and Wesson.
