dilemma

I have a M-3913 and a model 36. I love both of them. I can shoot the 3913 better than the 36, but the 36 conceals better, and is lighter. I'm more inclined to carry the revolver, but am open to suggestions.

I tend to favor what you shoot better rather than what carries better, WITHIN REASON. If there is a big difference you may leave it at home the one time you need it. This is a very personal decision. Input is nice but you have to make the call.

I carry my charter arms off duty most of the time because it is a light defensive weapon. But when I go into any sketchy areas I carry my MP45 Midsize which I shoot better than anything. And sometimes I carry a LCP. Key is to make sure you carry and practice with what you carry. I make sure I can hit a pie plate at 10 yards.

What's the difference.....

...between how they shoot? Close self defense situations don't require 1" groups at 20 yards. For myself 2" groups at 5 yards would be pretty good, especially under the stress of a defense situation.

How much difference is there in ease of carry between the two?

Personally, having SA capability and more round capacity makes the 3913 a winner. But I have a model 36 and wouldn't mind carrying it. I also have a 9mm Shield which would bet my ultimate vote as to combination of characteristics that are best for carrry. They are DAO, but the trigger is so good as to almost be as good as an SA model.

The gun you will like to carry is not the gun you will love to shoot..shoot/practice with the gun that you carry and shoot it the most..
I love the way my 340PD carries but it is challenging to shoot, but I carry it all day and it is reliable. Frequent practice, not extended practice, seems to be the key for me.

Just my opinion...

You seem to prefer the revolver, so my thought would be to practice with it until you can shoot it as well as, or maybe even better than, the semi-auto. Or at least to a reasonable standard of accuracy/precision.

Of course, that also depends on how much of a difference there is between shooting the semi-auto and the revolver. If by "better" you mean can get 2" groups with the 3913 vs 3" groups with the 36 at the same distance, I wouldn't worry about it. If you can get quick center-of-mass hits at 7 yards with the 3913 but can't hit the broad side of a barn at 3 paces with the 36, that's another matter entirely.

I go back and forth between a 1911 and a 642 depending on the season. I can hide the 1911 this time of year, but in the summer not so much.

My CS9 is lighter and conceals better than my 5906 but my 5906 still conceals just fine, thus it’s my main carry.

Update on this thread. I figured out why I shoot the 3913 better than the Model 36. I compared DA trigger pull on my model 36 with a friend's model 36- mine was almost double!!!!! So, I lowered the rebound spring weight and got the DA trigger pull down to about the same as my friend's model 36. I test fired it today, and am MUCH better with this revolver. I feel much more confident having this as my CCW.

All I carry is J-Frames with the exception of a 7 shooter once in a while. I pick Two daily. I just like shooting Revolvers better.

That's what makes me want to carry my Bodyguard .380 daily, but in church I sit up front, which is 20+ yards from the sanctuary entry doors. If I needed to make THAT shot it would certainly require a measure of "luck" with it, so I carry my Shield of BHP instead.

I'd carry the 3913 AIWB and put the 36 in the back pocket.

I actually carry a 908 AIWB and a 60 in the back pocket..
