Depends on what comes with it. A new 550b is $440 in most calibers, dies no included from brian enos. Two month wait though.

It comes with 9mm dies and conversion set up for me. And also a few day wait instead of 2 months =p

Get on Dillion's website and see their prices. Any Dillion 450/500 press is under warranty. The one thing I would want to check on any used press is, how badly rusted is the Ram. With light to moderate rust, oil and 000 steel wool should take care of it, but if there is any pitting replace the ram! I have a 450 that I upgraded a few years ago and it still works fine with around 1/4 million rounds through it. Ivan

I sold my old 450 to a shooting buddy who only loads one caliber. He is perfectly happy with it without the upgrade.
The Star Wheel is a BIG Improvement for advancing the cases. I was perfectly happy with the manual primer and powder controls.

I am on my second 550B now.

I think you should be ok with the upgraded press. And like you said No Waiting on this one.

Bob

I should of mention the press has gone through the re-furbish process from the dillon factory. The press looks good as new. I did purchase it and now I'm waiting for it to come in. I went to reload on my single stage press and I was only able to pump out 100 in an hour and a half. Couldn't stop thinking about the dillon coming in.

Go for it....I have a 450 that I bought back in 81-82.....reloaded thousands of 45 acp loads on it....using it for years, then when the upgrade package became available I made that change.....still load 45's on it......also have two other 550's and a 650 and a square Deal......have loaded tens of thousands of rounds cumulative on these presses over the years..I know they have a no BS warranty on their equipment, but so far have never needed it.....I load up stacks of ammo in the winter, and then shoot them in the summer.....the Dillon will serve you well.
