Hi,

First post here, been searching the internet and this forum for an answer for the last hour and finally thought I'd just ask, seems like a pretty good group here, so here goes: I'm trying to figure out how thick/wide a model 500 is. I can find the overall length, but, can't find the width anywhere. I was wondering if one of you fine gentlemen could shed some light on it. As background, I started an online store where I make book "safes" to hold handguns, and a guy wants one for his 4" barrel model 500. Getting a little off topic, he also wants 3 slots for speedloaders to hold 700 grain ammo, which makes me wonder how's the recoil on that, but anyway, this is the same guy who also ordered a book to hold his Hi-Point 9mm and 3 Extended mags, so overkill seems the norm with this dude. Either way, I've asked him already but I can't get in touch with him, but if anyone could help out I'd really appreciate it.

So since I'm new here, here's a bit about me. I'm from NC, former ski bum out in Utah for a handful of years, traveled and hitchhiked a lot, maybe trying to get a little more serious about "life" I'd say. Don't have a handgun yet (I know, really lame since I make stuff for them), but my wife has a S&W model 640 I "inherited" (not a fan of the lemon squeeze on it though), and I'll be taking a CC class next month. Thanks in advance guys. Also if anyone's interested in seeing some of the book safes you can check out bookmods.com .

Yeah, I found that easily enough, but it's the the width that I'm having trouble with. Basically I need to know how "deep" the book has to be to fit it in and still close the cover. I'm assuming the cylinder is the widest part of the gun, but I can't find any info about it.
