Hi Everybody!

I just bought a 13-4 that came with Uncle Mikes synthetic grips. I read in "the book" that starting in 1994 they changed to using synthetic grips on the model 13.

My question: Could these grips be the original grips that came with the gun? Does anyone know what kind/brand of synthetic grips the model 13 came with?

My gun's serial number is CCF####. So the gun could be from 1997 (got that from the book too). It appears that my gun has a MIM trigger (some hollowed out sections on the back), but not a MIM hammer (firing pin IS on hammer).

My collection is all older, so I'm not used to researching these youngin's! Anything you would like to fill me in on would be appreciated. Thanks!

In 1997 the Model 13, and the other K frame service revolvers, came with Uncle Mike’s grips. I think the Uncle Mikes grips started appearing in 1995, at least that’s when I took notice of them. 4” guns came with the Uncle Mikes round to square conversion grip (as all the guns were round butt at that point), while 2”, 2.5” and 3” guns had the Uncle Mikes round butt grip. I believe the 3” Model 13 had been discontinued in 1996, based on what I was told when I tried to order one in June 1997.

My 19-7, boxed up in Dec 1996 and purchased by me in June 1997, came with a new style MIM thumb piece, but a forged trigger and hammer mounted firing pin. The MIM triggers filtered in during 1997. It also came with the Uncle Mikes grips. I disliked how they looked, but found them very comfortable to use.
