Diners!

I'm sitting in a diner as I type this. Corner Cafe, 54th & Peoria, in Tulsa. Great breakfast, but I've never eaten anything else here. For those coming to Tulsa next weekend looking for diner food, try Tally's, SW corner of 11th and Yale, about a mile from the big show. Never had a bad meal there, and my buddy says the waitresses are friendly. I wouldn't know, as I've been married a long, long time.

Where I live there are Diners on almost every major intersection in every town. We have 58 Diners on an Island 20 miles wide and about 80 miles long. I've grown up in these diners and have come to hate them. They are all just about the same and the only thing I ever order in them is either an omelet or a burger. The rest of their food is eehhhh. I only go there when I don't have a choice (very late at night or on a Holiday that other places are either closed or packed with an hour wait).
Recently there have been a bunch of "country style" breakfast places that have opened and their food, service and atmosphere is 10 times as good as the Diners are. That's where I like to go these days!

Yep, Len, it is still there and they still serve on sheets of waxed paper. And both of the snooker tables still roll toward the street side! Great place to eat and the scenery is usually great, as well.
I was in Columbia, MO, yesterday and ate at CJ's Wings. Four "temperatures" for the wings: mild, medium, hot, and BYFO which stands for burn your face off. They do not kid around with the BYFO!
