A friend of mine gave me this pic of Dino coming out of a Beverly Hills Restaurant not long before he left us...It hangs in my dining room and is one of my favs even though it's not as "cool" a photo as those from his Rat Pack days.

He was an excellent entertainer, a funny guy, and a talented singer. From what I understand he was a gun guy too! Can't say too much about the glasses he is wearing though............

He was a handsome man. I see a reminder of what is in store for all of us... if we live that long.

I don't know about the guns. Heard many times that all he cared about was golfing. I guess one could have worse faults.

He was a good entertainer. Never saw him in person but did watch him on TV "back in the old days." Thanks for sharing the pic.

the Dean Martin roasts on tv were very funny. it was amazing to see all of the talent on the stage for those. these people didn't have to be profane to be funny unlike a lot of the comedians these days

The only thing about Dean was in his older stage of life he just kind of faded away, kind of like Carson. Sinatra, George Burns and Sammy on the other hand performed almost to the bitter end. Either he was sicker than we knew or he just lost his will to perform. Not that there is anything wrong with that - he is of course entitled to live his last few years anyway he saw fit.

The reports that I saw in that era indicated that he never really got over the death of his son Dean Paul Martin, and that he became depressed for the rest of his life.

Dino was an awesome singer, actor, and all around entertainer.

He was the epitome' of cool, along with Cary Grant.

I have about 24 Dino CDs.

I travel a lot, and they are great listening on long trips.

Wish I had the opportunity to have seen him.

Trouble is, "perky" generally implies "young". I prefer women who know something about life. And other subjects.

It's called talent and you are right, Dino and those guys had more class and talent in their little fingers than any three of the new age "comedians."

My good friend in N.C. knew him and can tell stories about him. Im trying to get her to join this site--she has loads of photos and stories to tell. My friend also knew other famed folks like: Frank Sinatra, David Janssen, Dale Robertson and I cant remember who else? Keith also knew Chuck Connors and helped him through treatment for drugs. Anyway, ill try yet once again to get her to join--the stories and images she has are amazing. Also, I dont know if its a Cardinal Sin here or not? but--Keith is also writing a book about her relationship with these and others. Keith is also probably the only Lady you will ever meet-with Keith as a first name.

He got all right except I didn't help Chuck with the drugs, just got him to the first tee in time not to miss his tee off time in a pro-am golf tournament, LOL. Hi ALL! I DID see him in Palm Springs after he had beat the drugs..what a different guy..........super nice. We invited him to breakfast at my club and I played a few holes with him. KEITH

Some performers HAD to keep working because they were not set up to quit.....Dino had done it right as was able to retire to play golf as he has always wanted, LOL!

Some years ago, I read one of the biographies of Dean Martin. Our family always watched his show and thought it was great entertainment! I was kind of surprised to read, in the biography, that he actually didn't care much for one his famous songs, "That's Amore" (you know...when the moon hits your eye, like a big pizza pie, that's amore). Supposedly he thought it was kind of goofy. I always wondered if that was true. Maybe Sip or our new member knows? I always liked the song, and it's a great "sing along" tune.
