Dirty primers?

Picked up this box at bass pro shops and found this when I opened it. Already sent winchester a message and am waiting on a reply to send pictures. Has anyone found this gunk on this ammo before?

I have never seen that before. It looks nasty.
I do not buy ammo expecting to need to clean it before using it.
I would have contacted Winchester, also.

Winchester is well known for occasionally having tumbling media stuck in the primer sealant around the primers.

I've never had to deal with their CS before. How did they handle this in the past?

They still shoot.

Don't waste your time with CS. Aside from being poor cosmetically, there is nothing wrong with them.

This is usually my first pick for SD because of local availability but I may have to look into something with better QC.
I'll wait to see what winchester has to say before anything.

I doubt the bad guy will notice, or care if the ammo is dirty.
They'll fire just fine.

If it makes you feel better clean them off before loading into your gun.

I've tried to clean em up but it's crusted in there pretty good.
