Display Prop Rods.

Went to a gun show a couple of months back and found these.
Anyone seen these before? The only ones I've seen before these were Smith & Wesson blue prop rods.

I am not looking to trade these Ruger prop rods, I only have 2 left from the original 6.
The other 4 were traded a month after I bought them. I will keep an eye out for the vendor I bought them from to see if he has anymore.
The next show is in a couple of weeks. If I find more I will contact those who asked about trading for them.

Around here the Smith rods are the most common by far.

"Never throw anything away" fits well here.

I guess I'm an oddball... but I don't get the whole prop rod thing.

To me it distracts from the appearance of the gun in a photograph or otherwise.

If I'm going to shoot a photo and I want an tilted position on the gun, I prop it from underneath with a brandy cork where it is out of sight.

Worse case, if I wanted to use a "prop rod"... I'd want a clear glass one that was the least visible as possible.

Is there something that I'm missing?

As a rule, I don't like to use prop rods; I agree with some that they do tend to distract from the gun itself. Occasionally, I'll use one to get the proper angle. I have two, one of the blue S&W types, and a clear acrylic job that is more generic. I think its use is not quite as distracting. Here's an example:

They were for dealers to display handguns. You can put more propped up guns in less space in the display cabinet.
I also do not like them in a photograph of a gun. For gun photographs I use hidden props or the gun is leaning against something in the backgound.

But I do have red ones, blue ones, and homemade ones.

Sip is not allowed to look at these pictures because I use Q-tips wedged between the cylinder and the frame that is well hidden behind the gun or a white hunk of foam that blends into the white background. The S&W prop rods obscure too much of the gun in the pictures.
