Not wanting to high jack the thread about the Garage sale I will add my two cents worth about the DMV here. What bugs me about the DMV is every 3 years I have to collect all the paper work to prove that I am the same person I was three years ago. My expiring license has my picture and my address that I provided proof that I was a citizen by my birth certificate. Plus my license is only good for three years now rather than 6 years before I turned 75. Guess that could be a good thing because some old farts should not be driving. Don't understand why I have prove my address every time because what difference does it make when you board an airplane as lone as you are a citizen

I think I'll be required to produce my passport again at the next renewal, which seems ridiculous. But it has an 8-year expiration date on it, so I'll deal with a renewal in 2033. I'm looking forward to that! :giggle:

In 2023 I had to renew my CA DMV driver license and was required to go in person etc for renewal.
I passed the written and then lined up for the vision test. So I stand on the black line and read the card with no problem but then she said move to the right 10 feet and read again. The Gal' that was testing me was very kind respectful when I challenged her saying that she just increased the distance. I missed one on the left and one on the right and she tagged my license stipulating I must wear corrective glasses when driving. I'm thinking to myself...tell her I just passed my FAA eye exam but then I back pedaled not wanting to open another can of worms.
I called my brother who is a highly respected eye Doc' and explained what happened. He told me that he had a long conversation with his local DMV manager and that was CA protocol and nothing he could do about it.
CA...you bite

I had to jump through the hoops the last time I renewed, in order to get a "real I.D." but I was under the impression that future renewals would be simple. Of course, in eight years, the only licence I will need would be to drive my coffin. I wonder if there will be an exam for that?
