DMV yesterday

I'm glad to read that states issue temp handicap tags. I've got no issue with parking and walking in and when we are in my wife's car I park where nobody is parked. But that's in cold weather.
I get light headed just trying to breathe in warm to hot weather, let alone walking in it. My coworkers sometimes think I've passed out in the parking lot if I've not bee seen in awhile.
So I believe I'm going to ask ask the doctor on my next visit.

Louisiana has a one page form that the Doctor provides . He or she will check the appropriate box for temporary or permanent tag and sign it . Take it to the DMV or Tag Agent and walk out with tag or placard .

Before Covid in Colorado You had to take a day off for a DL, half day off for Plates. Now You make an appointment on line. DL 15 minutes in and out.Plates 10 minutes. Up here there is no wait for plates, but They only do DL on specific Tuesdays. Waited 2 months after making the appt online. Only took 10 minutes in and out.

Good news - bad news...

I probably have the worst knee in Arizona... the VA did a full replacement unfortunately I was deathly allergic to the Cobalt Chromium knee they put in. After 6 months I fired my surgeon and got a second opinion which led to a ceramic replacement.

Several months following the second surgery I was still having a lot of issues. I asked my surgeon when I could expect it to get better. He said probably in another couple of months. Really? I asked... he shook his head sadly and said no.

So what can you do for me? He smiled and said I know, that temporary handicapped parking permit I got for you... I'll make it permanent. Now all of my vehicles have permanent HC plates which helps. If I can't open the door all of the way swinging my leg out is problematic.

Having lived in San Diego for 50 years I know first hand what disaster any trip to the DMV can be and it wasn't much better when we moved to Tucson but... We moved to Payson, a small town up in the mountains about 100 miles north of Phoenix. The local DMV office has 4 - 6 windows and rarely anyone backed up in line. A typical visit is about 5 minutes {or less}.

The plate is a bit of a band aid solution but what the heck... works for me.

I have had to wait for one person to get plates once in the 16 years I have lived in this county. Previously in Missoula County the wait was 2 1/2-3 hours.
