I know a couple of kids who are wheelgun fans.

I've handed my back up to one too many men who simply did not even know how to open the cylinder.

Until then, I thought it common knowledge. They just were never trained.

I noticed that old cop and I are the same age, 69. Except for the knees I feel 18 most days. Age is a transient concept that can inhibit or help one. Think wisely little minnow.
I've owned and carried all 3, semi autos, DA and SAA.
My 1st Leo carry gunh was a Colt Combat Commander. I ha shot the heck out of it. I did not worry about it being an auto. The older Hypo guys however did worry, I got lots of don't call me when it stovepipes, etc. After a year or so I traded it in on A python, then they moaned and whined because they couldn't carry one, A little later the State wient to 9mm semi auto. The hypo guys again were unhappy.
I gave them support, I said things like, don't call me for back up when your popgun stovepipes. They found humor when they kidded me, when the went to an auto and 9mm they did not see any humor. Except for the bean counter I think most would have preferred their 66's.
There may be a few old guys here, you know like 95 or a hunnert but collectively we are what they call a handful.

I have always been a wheel gun person until:Back in the 60's I bought my first semi-auto. After constant jamming and double feeds I traded for another wheel gun. In the early 80s I got a 10mm semi that would throw a live round to the ground while cycling one into the chamber (found out later after traiding it that all it needed was a #20 recoil spring to replace the #18 factory spring to handle the hot loads).I carried a S&W model 19 and later a 686. Reloads from speed loaders on belt where fast. All this was said to say this: I was carrying a S&W 642 with laser and speed strips for ammo backup as a ccw carry gun. After 40 years, I felt comfortable with wheel guns until last year I went to the range and fired the gun under what could be real life conditions. EYE OPENER!!! I traded for a 9mm Shield semi-auto. 9 rounds vs 5 with 642 and a fast reload. Accuracy was up to speed. I think in the early years semi-autos were not reliable.Today that is not the case and I did have problems with reloads on wheel guns. Cases that would swell in the cylinder making reloads difficult etc. Stay safe!
I am going to eat crow and it is not very tasty! I bought a Taurus M85,it's a 38+p revolver j frame size 2" bbl and is my main carry with 2 speed strips for ammo back up. I also love my 9mm Shield 1.0 and have carried it but the Taurus will also shoot 2" groups at 7yards rapid fire. Guess it's hard to kick old habits.

Wheel gunner here; I use and enjoy some reliable pistols and happily tote one when I need a belt gun. For pocket or waistband, it's a revolver. I load my 442-2 with a strong 158gr load that outperforms a number of 9mm loads from longer guns, I shoot the snubby better at long distance than any pocket sized auto and I'm far more confident in its reliability at contact range.

As an older, retired, and sometimes a little cranky former Police Officer, Yes I like revolvers. M10(thin barrel), 4in, SQ grips is one of my favorites. M442 is on my hip as I write this.
I have a G19, and a G21. So, well prepped, and ready to serve and protect my family if needed.

But I do carry auto loaders and I still like my revolvers too!

I turn 65 this month. I carry a Taurus 380 TCP and a Smith 360PD Scandium 357 both. Just depends on where I am going what I am wearing and what mood I am in at the time.
But if you think, young or old, that revolvers are going away just forget it. I was interested to buy or at least look at a Smith Governor and can hardly find one. They may be a niche gun or novelty but go figure. They cannot be bought even by dealers who move a lot of weapons.
Just a case in point: Check out the popularity of the Ruger LCR series. They sell, sell, sell.
Keep holding on to those revolvers guys. It is very seldom that someone will go to the range and have any problems with "fail to fire" or "stovepipes" or such.
I am sticking by both and will until they pry my cold dead hands from around them.
My thought upon which I am an expert!!!! LOL!!!

I am merely a sprout (57 yo) compared to most of you but I grew up with and carried revolvers for work in my early days. If I ever retire from LE, revolvers will become a much larger part of my daily carry. To me, they will become indispensable for LEOSA retiree carry in gun unfriendly jurisdictions. I wouldn't have a problem carrying a pair of .38s, service size and snub, for work now if it were allowed by policy.
And don't forget, "Inside every older person is a younger person wondering what the hell happened."
I'm a couple of months shy of 64 but every so often I find myself thinking of that one.

62 here, bought my first handgun the day I turned 21. It was a Ruger Super Single Six 22LR/22WMR. Since that day long ago, I have owned and shot many bottom feeders & revolvers, since about 1978 a wheelie has occupied one of my pockets on a daily basis. Having been retired for 16 years now due to On-Duty injuries, my EDC is a revolver on body with a Hi-Cap pistol in the console most days. If I'm required to go somewhere shady, I pack both on body. I currently own 5 Semi-Auto's and 4 revolvers. The current EDC package consist of either a Ruger LCR in 9mm or a 2.25" SP-101 and a S&W Model 59 or a Glock 26 with +2 base plates on the magazines. My wrist and arm injuries pretty much limit me to .38/.357 & 9mm.

Primary carry is a 442 in the front pocket with Pachmayr birds head style grips. If my paranoia strikes I sometimes switch to my Series III Hi Power in 9mm. I use Herrett grips I found at a gun show. 3 - dot sights otherwise stock.
As someone mentioned age is a state of mind but my 66 year old body sometimes disagrees.

Hmmm, well, let's see. My wife isn't old and she's obviously not a guy. She carries a 638 J-frame and can blow the center mass out of a target at 15 ft. quite well...and quickly.

My first gun was a Ruger SP101. I have more revolvers than semi autos. If I carry a semi-auto off duty, it's a 1911. Otherwise, it's my LCR 9mm, Smith 36, or Taurus 65. My LCR is my on duty BUG.

57 as of this month, you decide if that's old. Every day pocket carry is a 380 auto. With a jacket/vest a holstered .45 is my choice. I own way more revolvers, hunt with revolvers but there is a place for the big bottom feeders.
S&W Forum....(sadly)has become a forum for old,hobbling,gimpy,bad eyes(everyone complains about not being able to "see"sights) ALSO most have a "very"sick sense of humor
