My wife and I carry a 642 (hers) and a 442 (mine), Both have Crimson Trace Laser grips and sit in DeSantis pocket holsters. Great carry guns! Easy to stick in a pocket while going out the door, whether taking out the trash, or long shopping runs.
I usually have a back up strip loader with me.

I have a 642 which somehow ended up with my wife in her purse. I wonder how many of us here have done the same. It seemed to be the best all around, least complicated, least likely to snag the hammer, fits perfect in her purse gun.

I need to find another pocket 38 gun for me now

Hammerles J-frame revolver

Yes, I own one and it it my primary concealed carry firearm.
I use a pocket holster when I wear jackets or coats. There is no hammer to snag on clothing and the stiff trigger pull of this DAO revolver means that you are less likely to be accused of "negligent discharge of a firearm" in case you have to defend your self defense action in court. I load it with Speer Gold Dot Short Barrel .38+P's (JHP) because .357 Magnum rounds hurt my hand much more and prevent an accurate second shot. It is nice to have the option of using even less painful - but should be just as effective - .38's as in Hornady Critical Defense ammo.

I love my 342PD. The Scandium guns are SO light you don't even know they are there. Sure they kick hard but, in a real emergency situation you will never feel the recoil. Practice with any gun you carry, but especially with a Scandium gun. As much as I like my 342 I still almost always carry my lightweight, mini .45. God bless John Browning.

Not sure if they are carried more than any other gun, but I do have one. Mine comes out in summer, but now that I have a pocket holster for my Springfield XDs, I may part with the little revolver as the XDs has the advantage in firepower. Or I may hold on to it. Not sure yet.

I have both an XDs.45 and a 642-1 and also a bodyguard.380 for carry. After doing a lot of shooting with all with serious social use ammo I find the XDs.45 as small as it is and easy to conceal is also the easiest to shoot. To me it kicks less and is the easiest to shoot comfortably. Plus by far it is the more powerful.

I carry a 640, did a spring replacement with Brownell's components. Smooth and powerfull. I like the feel of the weight in either a DeSantis pocket holster or one of several outside "high riding" leather holsters. I have other S&W revolvers and they are all smooth and accurate.

I started carrying a Model 40 as a young police officer in 1970 and have not stopped.

I agree with you regarding carrying J frames in the summer. Much easier to conceal. In the winter I can carry just about anything but I still carry the J frame mostly.

I carry my pocket-holstered 642 almost 24/7. I also have a 'hammerless' 632 Pro I can carry in a pocket holster... but my ultra light 351PD - with a hammer - gets more carry!

Yeah, I admit it. I'm a fan of the Centennials...

I'm seeing quite a few pictures where the gun is facing the wrong way (barrel pointing right)..... Are you guys hiding something?......

;):p

I have a model 49 that I carried as a back-up when we carried model 15's, and a model 940 that I carried when we switched to the 9mm Sig 226. I don't know if anyone ever used their main gun ammo in a back-up to save their lives, but it seemed prudent at the time.

The 49 I got off a retired LAPD detective. It was neutered by the dept. gun guys so it could only fire double action, no thumb cocking the hammer back.
