My first thought is that it was a Colt Python.
I think one was a snub K-frame and the other was a M-57.

I've got seasons 1 and 2 on DVD now. Waiting for the others to come out. Also got all 8 seasons of Magnum P.I.

Well, I saw that it was a M-66 or a nickled M-19 snub. I don't see how you'd distinguish between them on TV. I never saw the grips that I recall. But it was pretty plain what the gun was, if you know firearms at all well. It always amazes me how poorly some people ID movie and TV guns.
Of course, if you're trying to tell whether a gun is an M-29 or an M-57 or an M-36 or M-37, you must have a very good crystal ball, indeed!

Don't specifically recall the guns used by the Simon brothers, but I was a faithful viewer when it was on. Saw the whole series.

I went to You tube and watched some clipping kind of hard to tell. It looks like a Python but is 'shiney"

Primarily AJ used a M66 2.5" with Pachs and Rick used a M29 6" or 6.5" also with Pachs, just like 9303 said. Other guns were used including, but not limited to 1911's, a Chief's Special, and an HK P9S.
You are correct on the Bel Air and the Dodge Power Wagon. Later AJ also got a then new Camero. From that point forward the Bel Air was still seen in the garage, but didn't get driven. Rick drove a Dodge Power Wagon, except in the first episode when he had an early 50's vintage Chevy pick up.
