Do you still have a certain "caliber" that you would like to bring to the collection?

As a city dweller in this leftist state, I have no need for a hunting rifle, but keep trying to convince myself that I need a lever action rifle... I really want to get a Marlin 336 in 30/30. I just think it is a beautiful rifle... Eventually I'll get one, although I should get an AR-15 platform first....

For handguns, I only have 9 mm and .40. I like both, but am clearly lacking the simplicity of a revolver. That will be next on my list, probably a .357 so I can shoot a variety (.357 and .38 spl) through it. (But am also contemplating a .44 mag).

Also feel I should have a 22 handgun at some point, as they are just so much fun to shoot, and affordable.

Edit- sorry didn't mean to reply to the above, was trying to reply to the general post.
I had a Marlin 336 at one point. Only bought it cause the lack of left handed bolt action rifles in 308/30-06. Didn't like it too much. The 336 itself was fine but I hated the loading, always got my finger stuck or the cartridge. And for something that has the dimensions of 7.62x51 I'd want the performance of 7.62x51. I realize why it's not but still. Anyway, when I found a left handed 30-06 I sold the Marlin

I'd like a .22 mag, revolver and rifle, A .38 Super Colt, a .410 shotgun, a .250 Savage 99. and dreaming of a medium bore (.450-.500) Black Powder Express.

I once had a 7/.30 Waters T/C Contender that I let slip away. Absolutely loved that gun. For those unfamiliar with the cartridge, it's a 30/30 case necked down to 7mm with the shoulder blown out and fireformed. Once a wildcat, now commercially available. That scope mounted handgun was an awesome hunting combination.

I thought of one more, a Henry Golden Boy in .17HMR. I already have a late '60s Marlin 39A that I absolutely love plinking with, so I have .22 covered and the .17HMR round is a neat little round to play with. Might need to combo that with a Ruger New Model Single Six in .17HMR lol Damn, I keep thinking of more and more that I can add to this list.

PS It's interesting to see how often a 1911 in .38Super is mentioned in this thread :)

.454 Casull® in a Freedom Arms Model 97 Premier Grade 10" (it's the Wyoming native in me).

If I were ever going to buy a long gun it I would have Bill at the LGS across the street build a heavy barrel, like the one he made for himself, in .204 Ruger. There's just something crazy appealing about a 32-grain projectile traveling at 4,000 fps.

Deep down inside I've always wanted an original Winchester mdl. 70 in .458 magnum with a 22" bbl.......Also have always wanted an original Browning Superposed in 20 ga..
........So as an alternate I fling big 405 gr. bullets in my 45/70 and shoot birds with a "lessor" 20 ga. under & over.

Wouldn't mind a 10mm or .460 Rowland handgun

Definitely plan on a 7.62 x 51 rifle some time or another...

You might be better served by a .357 mag lever gun.

you bet .... !

got my eye on a 10mm handgun . just for for sending those 10 mm pills downrange ! for sure dont really need it
but my exercise bike is moaning & groaning so the hankerin for the new pistol may have to wait ... i do value my fitness/health .

My current handgun cartridges, and also reload for,are 9mm,38sp,357M,40S&W,10mm,41M,44sp,44M. I want to add eventually 327 Federal Magnum,380ACP,357Sig,45LC,& 454 Casull.

I let a family member have my 45-70 '86 Winchester....

Been thinkin on a Model 71 in 450 Alaskan for a spell or maybe

a 375 Weatherby or a 416 Remington built on a model 70 magnum action.

My 1076 with full power Underwoods is a hoot. When you get around to scratching that itch, you can't go wrong with any of the 10xx pistols.

BTW, I hear ya on the health and fitness. I could have checked off a couple wants on the gun list with what I spent on my new mountain bike this spring and I didn't even go high end! LOL I did go quite a bit above big box store though ;)

I would like to own one 45LC, preferably a real Colt SAA Peacemaker. Probably not going to ever happen. Other than that, I've got about all the calibers I want to own. Well, maybe get an old pre64 Model 94 Winchester 30.30 that somebody beat me out of before I knew what I had. If he can live with it (which he's been able to) I can too. Didn't mean to drift off the subject of the post. Apologies.

I just bought my "latest" Grail Gun. In a caliber that I already own. But I didn't own a 45acp revolver. Now I do. They make more than one kind for a reason. People's taste and desires vary and change with time. There was a time when guns were just tools. (Truth is the West wasn't won with a Winchester or a Colt but with a 10 or 12 gauge double barrel.) The modern "meat hunter" could live/does live very comfortably with a deer rifle (pick your caliber to go with your location) and a shotgun. A case could be made for the need for a 22 rifle. All else, including handguns, with the exception of a few special needs situations, are not needs but wants and desires. I have many different calibers and action types. I still wonder why some desire a firearm in a special configuration or cartridge? Just because I can't see the need doesn't mean you don't. It all boils down to personal choice. If you like something that is outside the norm and maybe even wanders into the downright strange, you are just exercising you right of personal preference. If you want it. If you can afford it. Go for it! For now, at least, most of us live in a place where we can own and shoot what we want.
