the first Smith and Wesson you bought?

I went into LE in 1971 and I owned and carried a 4 inch Model 19 and a Model 36 in an ankle holster. In 1974 I started carrying a Model 29 four inch and still carried the 36 in the ankle holster.

I still have all three guns. The 19 and 36 I had Armoloyed in the early 70s, as I spent a lot of time on Boat Patrol and there weren't any Stainless guns available, other than the Model 60.

I owned a K-22 before these guns, but it was given to me by my dad. These were the first ones I laid down my money for.

I was just wondering with so many here who own Smiths, do you still own the first one you bought?

No. My first was a model 28 purchased in 1974. In 1977 I traded it for a model 19, which I still have.

Yep. I still own my 681. Of course, this was only purchased over a year ago. The only one I do not still own is the third S&W I bought... my Sigma .40.

Yep, problem is I can't remember which one came first. My first S&W was either the Model 1000 semi-auto shotgun, or my 1911Sc. It's an easy question to answer still though, I still own every gun I have ever bought other than 3 of the German police Sigs I bought last year, but I bought those 3 for someone else anyway.

Yes, my first handgun also. Chief Special born around 52'-53'. Will never willingly let it go.

You bet. Of all the handguns I have had since, it is still the one I like best. We just celebrated our 40th anniversary this past August. ;)

Own it?? I don't even necessarily remember it!
I think it was a lend-lease or Victory that had been sleeved to .22 LRRF. That would have been back in the mid '50's and my memory ain't what it used to be.:D

However I do remember the last one I got. Does that count? (It is a .32 HE 3rd Model)

The only Smiths that I bought new were a M547, a M16-4 and a M610. Wish I still had them.:(

No, unfortunately, my first was a Model 10 that I traded back in the 70's for what I cannot recall.

Yes,

First S & W 19 no dash, nickel 4" barrel

Actually still have them all. 629 5". model 10 and a model 60

A 28-2 with magna and target grips as well as the box and an action job acquired from a buddy who got it from a CHP officer. It's got some miles on it, but it still shoots great. Paid a whopping $ 150 back in the late seventies.

Like some of the other postings, I have never sold an S&W. My first was an early model 669, product code 104050, that was born in 1985. I still have the original blue Springfield box as well as the inner packing and the screw driver.

My first was a smith model 41... it still lives with me after almost 30 years and quite a few bullseye league and many rounds...

Yes & Yes. In my family, we count "stole" as purchased. If that is OK by you I have the first two that I stole (13-1 and 645). If it doesn't count, then I have the first one I bought too (Mdl 41).

yes, a model 15 on my 16th birthday. still have the box and all than come with it too.

Yes, I still own the first gun I bought.

It is a 686-1 with a 6" barrel I purchased in 1988.

I am using this gun in the USPSA competition.

I only sold one of the guns I purchased. It was a re-blued German Luger.

Unfortunately not. I was in Chicago in 1965, looking for a nice M1917. Found one in a hdwe. store for $50, and next to it was a M21/Pre-21 .44 Spl. 5" for $55. Bought the .44 which was just as nice. Kept it for a couple of yrs during which time I got drafted, ultimately sold it to a dep. sheriff in CA.

I had a lot to learn in those days.

Yep, a model 28 bought in 1967 from F. Morton Pitt, mostly a cop shop. I was there with my CHP buddy and neighbor and because I was ex-military Viet Nam and and who I was with and all that they gave me police price, I think it was about $60.00. I wanted a 27 but I thought at the time that I would be sleeping with my gun if I did that. Now I'm glad I got the 28 and I have six of them, three each in four and six inch barrels.

I have no idea how many .38 special rounds loaded on my Matel Hammermatic (Lee loader to you younger people) and .357 stuff went down that pipe, but it's in the thousands and she's a bit out of time. But it's the one gun that my son had better not sell.

Oh, and I bought my Rockchucker in 1970.

Yep, a 6" 17-3 I got when I was twelve or thirteen years old. I've put many, many rounds through it and it has served me well over the years.

I still wish I had my first gun, a re-blued Belgian Browning Auto .22, but it was traded off for something long forgotten.

No I don't I traded a 27-2 for something else, because it was not as accurate as my Python.I still have the Python.

Yep, I was a Colt/Ruger guy, in a guys print shop servicing his equipment. He owed me money for supplies from before plus a couple of service calls. When he said he couldn't pay I saw the S&W 39-2 on the shelf under the cash register and said "that should cover the bill". He got a good deal, nice guy, I still have that one and many of her sisters have come to live with us.
