I saw this article linked today (Holiday cards taking a backseat in era of Facebook | OregonLive.com) and was wondering about it. I still send cards every year, but I only get a few each year and that number is declining. So, in return, my list has also dwindled as I stopped sending to people that never reciprocate. How about everyone else? Do you still send them? Do you get them? Are you sending/getting less?

Maybe I'm just old fashioned, but I really do like getting a card. I don't need a letter telling everything you did that year, but it's nice to see a beautiful or funny card and put them up for display.

I send about 35 cards and probably get about that same number back. I don't think I get cards from anyone under age 40.

I enjoy sending them. It's the only contact I have with many of my relatives. It honors my late parents somehow.

An e-mail is not the same thing.

Greetings, All,

Yep, Sweet Bride and I still send Christmas cards, and very much enjoy doing so. Our total for this year was 75 cards sent out. Last year, we got around 26 cards in return, but this year, unless things pick up soon, we're going to be down to around 15-20. Such is life. Personally, we would prefer a real Christmas card, instead of any "e-card", and go not participate in the facebook phenomenon. We think such places are symptomatic of the lack of real contact in our society today. We've reduced personal contact with friends and family, down to cyber contact, which is not "personal" in the least! We'll hold onto the old traditions.... Take care, Merry Christmas, and God Bless!

Every Good Wish,
Doc and Sweet Bride

i send them, both business and personal. it's tradition.

i think we need to get back to a little more tradition in america.

We only reciprocate. If we get one, we reply. We cut it out a few years ago. Seemed a waste of natural resources to send them locally to people we had seen that week. I do miss sending the NRA cards to some of the left wingers my wife used to have to work with.
