DOB Please

Just bought a 1905 and would like to know a close date of birth. Has 38 S&W spcial ctg on the left side of barrel and Sept 14 09 on the right as the last pat date the s/n is 240xxx can anyone get a close date for me? Thanks

1914 or 1915; This would be a 1905/Third Change. The patent dates are on the side of the barrel rather than the top? That happens with four inch barrels on early M&Ps. Is this a round butt or square butt revolver?

Thanks for the imformation. Yes it's a round butt, which I love in a Smith, although a 3.5 inch model 27 would be just fine as a square butt. Thats next, will be a harder find though.
