Check this easy way first. If you have system restore working [Windows machine], restore to the date time before you deleted the file. That may replace it.
Or, try right clicking on the folder where the file used to be, and select "restore previous version." This may bring the file back.
If either of those work, great. If not, advise and there are some chunks of freeware that could work, too.
One of our secretaries had all of her files on floppy disk and loved "del *.*" She never did learn to check what directory she was in when she issued that command. I think I recovered her files for her three times in one week.
