Does 3 inch j frame fit in a front pocket

Are you using a pocket holster to keep it upright and how deep are the pockets???

It all depends on the pocket. I have some pants that will take a 4" K-Frame.

you will need deep pockets (i.e. cargo pants or deeper) and a "J" frame pocket holster.

Guess you gotta first define "fit." Yeah, you can put it in a pocket, but the more important question is whether it conceal well enough to not be conspicuous? Or to get you by in an NPE?

Generally, in my experience, jeans will accommodate a 1 7/8" j-frame, muzzle-down in a pocket holster. Some cargo/casual pants will do this, too, without risk of the pocket puffing open and exposing the butt of the gun. Most dress trousers and the more current, stylish lower-rise trousers are prone to the pocket material hanging strangely with the weight of a gatt in a pocket, and leaving the butt of the gun visible at certain angles, despite being fully within the confines of the pocket. I'd imagine that a 3" j-frame would be about 1" worse than a 2" one in this regard.

I have carried my Model 36-1 3" in my pocket. I wear semi-baggy khaki pants every day, 365 days a year. I am very confident that my 2" guns are concealed, less so with the 3" gun. When you get right down to it, there is just nothing like a 2" j-frame when it comes to a compromise between power, conceal-ability, and reliability.

I have a 3" M37 that I pocket carry in jeans using a Barami Hip Grip. I slip a pocket holster in my pocket and insert the pistol partially into the holster, then hock the grip onto my pocket. The pocket holster helps break up the outline, keeps lint our of the pistol and meets Ohios bizarre holster requirements for CCW in a motor vehicle.

I have a Mika Pocket Holster for each of my Bodyguards. The 2.5" 638 fits in casual slacks, e.g., Dockers, dress slacks, 511 and Blackhawk pants w/o issue. Jeans present an issue for the 2.5". I can carry in my jeans pocket but the back of the grip is at the top of the pocket. I don't have a "belly" so I can access from jeans but the draw is certainly not like casual or dress slacks. I like my 2.5" Airweight because it's a bit lighter than by alloy-frame nickel Bodyguard in 2". A 3" revolver is probably pushing the limit for pocket carry, but like a previous poster said, "Put it in your pocket and try it."

On a more serious note, yes they do SOMETIMES, depending on what you are wearing. An Airweight with a 3" barrel is my wife's preferred revolver for self defense.
