Does anyone carry a Ruger LC9?

I'm talking about the original DAO version with the long trigger pull.

I have one but haven't carried it.

Switched to revolvers right after getting it.

I'm thinking of dusting it off for carry.

Has a few more shots than a revolver, and has a 9 round extended magazine.

No interest in a handgun that can be pocket carried . My wife has a p365xl with 12 round mags and that might be the smallest lightest I would carry but in a iwb holster . Mine only 9mm is a m&p 4" compact but I carry a 40sw or 45 .

The Lc9 is my primary carry gun. It is small lightweight and still has 8round capacity (7 in the mag one In chamber) . I live in a hot climate so pocket carry 6 months of the year in cargo shorts IWB the other 6 months . My county only allows 3 guns on carry permit and the Lc9 is the one I carry 90% of the time. the other 2 are Glock 27 and Ruger Lcp for when I really need to be discreet .

I have had one for several years. I replaced the god awful stiff stackey original trigger with a Gallagher Precision trigger system and the plastic guide rod with a Gallagher precision steel one. The trigger is night and day better than the original.

Our lawn service guys, father and son, both pocket carry the LC9 even in our hot, humid coastal NC spring and summer or frosty late fall and winter seasons.

Yup! I’m a DAO guy and the “almost pocket pistol” LCP with the extended mag is my favorite. It replaced my 3rd Gen 3953 for primary daily armament.

My niece (in optometry school over in AZ) inherited my brother-in-law's LC9 when he died in 2020. It is reliable and she's competent with it so it passed my "Would you let a loved one carry this?" test. It is not as pleasant to shoot as a Glock 43 or the little Kahrs, but she's happy enough with it that she turned down my offers to give her something else.

My summer EDC is an old (unofficial Gen 2) LCP w/a 7 round mag & Hogue rubber grip sleeve. I’ve had it over 10 years, hundreds of rounds of FMJ & HP absent a single failure.

I used to EDC an LC9.
Until it fired out of battery, split the brass, and launched the extractor parts into parts unknown.
Ruger had me send it in and THEN told me they didn't have the parts to fix it.
But the good news is they gave me $275 credit towards anything they sold at the time and discounted the purchase price to their wholesale price.
I ended up buying one of their AR's at the wholesale price for just a little more than the $275 credit allowance.
I already had a couple of AR's so after having it only a short time I sold it for around $600 IRC. So I made out pretty good on the deal.
FWIW, I still have one, since I originally had two. BUT a non-safety P365 replaced it for regular carry.
The two guns are so close in size that the P365 fits the leather/kydex hybrid Tagua IWB holster I used for carrying the LC9.
With a Magguts +2 kit installed in the standard 10-round I have 12 + 1 in a package almost the exact same size as the LC9.
And it shoots better - at least for me.
JMO and YMMV...

I don't trust Ruger semiautos. Ruger has great customer service but one of the worst when it comes to QC of their semiautos. My LC9s Pro had several issues out the box and on the first range trip. Several malfunctions and then I ultimately had a dead trigger.... I sent it back to ruger in 2018 I believe, got it back a month later, and it's been in the return shipping box ever since. I've heard of a lot of firsthand issues with their products over the years, but I guess everyone give them a pass because of their past pedigree and great customer service. I still do not trust them for self defense or duty purposes.

I owned an LC9. I didn't think the trigger was absolutely terrible, but I am used to DA revolvers. I never tried an LC9. I ended up trading the LC9 towards a Glock 43 mostly because the Glock fit my hand a lot better, but I likef the Ruger okay.

I spent my early carry years building homes in coastal SW FL where heat and humidity along with some time afternoon showers were normal daily in the looong summer we had . Tried pocketing a snubby at work but changed quickly back to a iwb holster and a single stack handgun.

Might be what you carry is more about your physical and metal toughness and maybe it a generational thang !!

My EDC is a Ruger EC9s, the stripped down version of the LC9, carried in a pocket holster.

Mine shoots just fine.

LC9 - kind of. My car gun is an EC9s which I really like and have had zero problems with ... and my on-top-of-the-clock pistol is an LC380 that has been equally perfect. That said, not too many rounds thru either but enough that I'm very confident in them. I don't think the EC9s gets the attention it deserves, maybe because of the rough-ish finish and the fact that so many folks just don't like or trust Rugers for self-defense.
