Does anyone have a 686P 6" 7 shot??? How do you like it????

I have a 686+ 6" and it is very accurate. From a rest with a red dot Ultra Dot shot one ragged hole at 25 yds.

I got a 686-6 6" 7 round talo as my first and love it. have shot both .357 and 38 spl. thru it I think .357 my be a little more accurate but I have not had a chance to try alot of differant ammo thru it. 38 spl. is alot kinder on my wallet and hand. I have since picked up a s&w 10, 64 and colt trooper. I love revolvers should have started getting a long time ago. hope you like your 686.

I have a 6" 686-4 that is a 7 shot. It also has the old-style hammer-mounted firing pin. I agree with MikeChandler and normally prefer a square butt, but the round butt is not bad at all with the factory Hogue rubber round to square conversion grips. In fact, they are my choice for the long barreled round butt L and N frames. I love mine and find it very accurate and built like a tank. It is one revolver that will stand heavy .357s all day long. I have never even bothered to shoot .38s out of it (I have plenty of K-frames for that). Here is a pic of my 686-4 7 shot in a family photo. It is flanked by a 4" 6 shot 686-3 (middle) and a 2 1/2" 686-4 7 shot (bottom).

I also have it's older brother, a square butt 6" 686-2 6 shot (a one year dash version)

I just love reading these positive reviews, sounds like everybody is having fun

Its brother...the 2 1/2"...but will hit 8" steel plates off hand at 25yds...you're gonna love it..

I own a 686-5 (7-shot) with a 4" barrel and a 686-4 (6-shot) with a 2.5" barrel. I've also spent some extensive range time with my father-in-law's 686-6 (6-shot) with a 6" barrel.

They are all superb guns, but if I had to pick one as my favorite all around gun it would be the 4".

The 6" with the full under-lug feels just a little bit too barrel-heavy for my taste, and the 2.5", while real fun to shoot, is just a little too short to make it a good plinking gun (at least with my shooting ability). I find the one in the middle to be "just right." I think the 7-round cylinder is a real bonus too.

That being said, I have my eye on a 6"686 just to round out my collection.

I also have 6" 686-4 7 shot. Picked it up used, previous owner had monkeyed around "under the hood". Took a little time to get those issues straightened out, want to clearly state issues were not from factory origin.
It's a real tack driver, 7 shot capacity can be confusing at times, like the Houge-S&W rubber grips.
I'd hold out for a used one myself.

I have a 686+ 6" great shooter very smooth and consistent 3" groups at 25 yards, 158 grain SWC's, only my Dan Wesson 15-2 8" does better...

I had the 686-1, 6" and traded it for a 686-4+, 4". I just like the 4" better and I couldn't afford to keep both. But they're both really nice.

Another positive vote for an excellent gun. I have had the 686P 6" for two years now, and its accuracy almost makes it boring!:)

I'm with the other positive reviewer of the Hogue grips, I have no problem with the fit...but do agree that wood always looks nicer.

I usually shoot 158g through it, but recently tried and was surprised by using Hornady Leverevolution 140g ...with spectacular results!

You will not regret your purchase.

I don't have one, but I've shot one many times. I agree with the previous posts that the 4" is a little more balanced. I'm pricing the 4", 686+ right now b/c I'm close to buying mine. I like the Hogue grips, but i know its a love/hate relationship here.

Either way, great pistol, I can't wait to get mine.
