Does being somewhat handicapped?

To me a large part of the problem is that most people don't have a clue what it is to be handicapped unless someone in their immediate family is and unfortunately this is going to apply to a jury. People look at me and see someone that is close to six feet tall and weighing 200 pounds and assume that nothing is wrong with me. I walk normally (most of the time), talk normally and can even smoke and chew gum while doing it so I don't fit most folks definition of handicapped which to most people is confined to a wheelchair or having some type of deformity. Now the second one I have them on as I have a grapefruit size lump on the bottom of my spine thanks to a botched back surgery otherwise I'm no different in a juries eyes than the next person and regardless of how much testimony medical experts provide I feel that a jury would go with their first impression and that worries me. As another posted stated if I'm unlucky enough to get into a physical altercation, I know I'm going to lose it so I will do everything in my power to stop that from happening including deadly force if I feel it's appropriate. All I can do at that point is hope the DA would be able to put themselves in my place and determine that I acted under the impression that deadly bodily harm was going to be done to me. Long shot; probably but thats what it will boil down to. I have had an attempt made on my life once 11 years ago, at the time I was unarmed and couldn't even get the police to respond (they di but five hours later). Fortunately I wasn't hurt but from that minute on I have never been unarmed. The Police refused to take any action even when I provided full descriptions, a license number and several other key details. They wrote it off as a prank but I don't feel that a person who drives past your home then jams his truck into reverse and deliberately trys to run you over is my idea of a prank. Key lesson learned from that experience is that the Police aren't going to go out of their way to assist you even in a life threatening experience; at least not in this area!
