Does it matter what .38's I shoot in my 27-2?

If I am just shooting at the range does it matter whether or not I use jacketed .38's in my 3.5 inch 27-2?
Thats probably a question for the range master, eh?
The range where I shoot permits both jacketed and lead, but some ranges do have restrictions on lead for air quality issues and some ranges have restrictions on powerful loads because of engineering issues or even using handloads because of insurance issues.
So ask the range master.

Your 27 can handle any and all properly made .38 or .357 loads. Your only issue will be what does your range allow as pointed out by Hovnnes

One thing to remember is to vigorously clean the cylinder and get the carbon ring that will build up due to the shorter rounds before you shoot any .357's

If the build up is bad enough, you won't be able to get .357s to seat or the cylinder to close.

To paraphrase one of the greatest movie lines of all time:

I love the smell of Hoppes after range time.

Ditto on cleaning very thoroughly after shooting, especially with lead rounds.
