Looking for a cheap, plastic OWB holster similar to what Glock has for their firearms. I don't see anything similar at the S&W store. Is there such an animal for my new Shield .40?

I personally like it, as well as others at the Glock forum. S&W have holsters in their store but nothing comparable.

Good luck on finding one that is in the Glok $10-$15 range. A simple OWB Belt Slide Kydex holster would be just as good, if not better than the Glok holster, but it would most likely cost more than the Glok.

S&W includes a Blade Tech holster in their M&P Carry & Range Kit, I think it's called the Revolution, but it's around $30.

I have a Blade Tech for my M&P9, good range holster. Wouldn't use it for carry.

Yep, I'm aware that plenty of holster options are available but I was just curious if such was available through S&W and I had just missed it, similar to the Glock or even the Springfield offerings.

As much as it pains me to post this:

I have yet to find a holster that was less than $40 that I liked and the above is no exception. For $18 it was a cheap gamble that didn't pay off. It does meet the minimum criteria for a holster:
  • Holds the gun relatively securely.
  • Covers the trigger.
  • Stays open when the gun is drawn. (unless you wear it IWB)

It's better than nothing, but not by much.

Remember, the bitterness of low quality lasts long after the sweetness of low price wears off. Buy once, cry once. It's worth it to save a few dollars and get a real holster. There are far too many people making decent Kydex holsters at reasonable prices to waste any time with garbage like this.

But......But..........But, it's "Urban Grey"! That sounds pretty tactical to me.

You probably can find a fobus for around $20, but a fobus only has passive retention. Probably would be fine for CC.

I've had snobs ask why I would spend a bunch of money on expensive custom gun leather (Milt Sparks) when I was just carrying a cheap polymer pistol. I do this because I carry my cheap plastic pistols for longer hours with a greater need for concealment than the snobs with their high dollar 1911s and such. I've seen cops trying to carry concealed with the popular inexpensive plastic paddle holsters that print far worse with a baby Glock than my M&P 45 full size in a Summer Special II. Even for casual range work, invest in something a little more substantial - such as Blade Tek or Galco. Incidentally, it was an old cop with a bean pole body carrying a G22 in a Summer Special under a polo shirt that was not even the slightest bit noticeable that changed my views.

IMHO don't by a cheap holster to start with. You have a quality firearm, put it in a quality holster.

Wal-Mart...$8.99...comes in a matched set:

I went with this suggestion and it seems to work well. Guess I'll keep looking and try to avoid a box full of never used holsters. Had to use a different belt since my waist is different from "Dunlaps" disease. The IWB option has been covered since I swap out my Glocks and S&W using the same IWB holster.

The Blade Tech Revolution (in 9c size) will fit the compact, 4.25 and 5" pistols in both standard and CORE configurations. Pretty versatile.

Kydex on Amazon is what I use for my Shield for around the property when mowing or projects. OTW , and it holds it firm enough to use on the tractor.
