Just bought a new 686 with these wood grips (will be here next week). The grips are offered on the 3-5-7 series 686 revolvers.

Don't want to buy another set just wondering if S&W sells them individually so I have an idea of what they are worth in case I decide to part with mine.

(Did try to locate them without luck)

Thanks

I believe they are made by Altamont but there are so many options on their website I can't tell if they sell them or are out of stock. Would give S & W a call to check on their price.

Yeah, ku grips.

I got those on two of the talo guns and they also come on the PC 627 5"

They balance great for a shorter barrel or generally lighter gun. I moved one from a 5" 686 toy 2.75" 66-8. I also have them on the 7", but a full square butt balances the forward weight better.

I find that altamonts are unfinished on the back where they meet the frame. Sharp edges are proud of the frame, so common twisting recoil will slash your hands up real fast. I sand all of mine smooth around the ears and refinish them to prevent this. Be warned.

I liked the grips but hate those two top sharp corners enough that I replaced mine with Pachmayr Compac Pros. The two top corners would eat up my hand when shooting .357 loads.

If you got some 1k about sandpaper and just a basic metal file, you can file a bit off, slip back to compare and file a little more. When it's fit, just use the sandpaper. If you want them to look nice and shiny, you can buy a spray can acrylic or whatever. I own like 30 revolvers and I like their designs, so I'm happy to customize all of mine. I recommend their roper style especially.

Pretty sure i seen a bunch on ebay.
Good luck

There is a set on ebay right now...item: 203505302370

I'd put in the link but thought I got gigged the last time I did it on this forum.

Anyway...the description tells the story.

Thanks Guys
