It's been 15 years since I've bought anything from Tex Shoemaker, and I was just wondering if anyone knows if they still make good leather holsters?

My question was do they still make GOOD leather holsters, not are they still in business. Sorry, I guess I should have clarified that.

When I started in LE in 1988, Tex Shoemaker and Safariland was all my local LE equipment shop carried. The proprietor told me once Tex used only "bridle" grade leather. A few years ago, I was in his shop and he had no Tex Shoemaker stuff. The LE shop owner told me the owner of Tex Shoemaker had died and his family (2 sons I recall) took over the business and prices went way up and quality went to krap, so he didn't carry it anymore. My problem with Tex Shoemaker stuff is it always seems to develop that green goop around any metal that contacts the leather. I like some of their product designs though. Of late, I have been getting alot of gear from A.E. Nelson leather in Oregon. Google them, high quality leather stuff.

Just got a field holster, for my 4" Redhawk with Riverbelt from A.E. Nelson. Great stuff and very reasonable.

17days from order to front door.

Good leather and nicely executed.

Thank you for letting me know about A.E. Nelson. Their # 396 holster is exactly what I was looking for.
