Does the 39-2 have the same slide assembly as 59 and 559?

I want to replace the slide assembly on my 39-2. The previous owner used vice grips to replace the extractor and left teeth marks on it. I found a replacement on e-gunparts.com but the website says the same slide is used also for the 59 and the 559. Is that correct? Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks,
Jeff

I concur with PALADIN85020. Same part number listed for the 39 slide and 59 slide in the parts list.

559 slide would have a firing pin safety. OK on a 39 if the block is not installed.

After spending some time looking at the schematics of the model 39 and the 559, I see what you mean. Under the adjustable sights the firing pin safety lever plunger (i.e. block) is located, just like the magazine disconnect plunger. If I take that out, it will work.

Darn, I was hoping to add the firing pin safety capability to my 1st generation, but oh well. At least I get the cool adjustable sights with the bunny ears. Thanks for your response, SG-668.

Wait a minute guys. That 39-2 barrel and slide is not the same as the 39 no dash and the 59. The 39-2 is a straight barrel that uses a retainer in front. I am sure the 39 no dash and 59 have the barrel with the bulge in front. The terms escape me right now but they are different. Don't get the 39 no dash and 39-2 confused. I am not trying to be smart, but I ordered a slide for a 39/59 for my 39-2 and had to ship it back.

I just took a look at my 39 no dash, and it does not have a bulge at the front of the barrel, like the 3rd gen pistols do.

It has the same removable barrel bushing as the 39-2.
