Does this define lost innocence?

I often see threads about lost innocence, and I often hear comments like "when can kids just be kids these days?" Now I'm sure that a little of this is hankering after the good old days, but much of it is brought on by the crazy pace of life in today's world. Yes, we are better fed and have better healthcare than in the past, but at what price?

Today I was sorting out stuff in my storage and found some old photos. Bear in mind my storage has stuff from my wife, her sister and their mother in there. They all passed in the period February 2008 to May of this year. I'm still sorting out family bits and pieces as the girls not got the courage to do it before hand, and I was reluctant to force the issue. Now it is down to me and a rather emotional niece.

Anyway, in the pile of photos was this one from the mid 1950s. It shows my wife and her brother, possibly on a family visit in Iowa.

On the matter of innocence, I think the picture speaks for itself.

Great picture. Childhood is short and once lost is gone forever.

This is my 14 year old son with his little sister. She turns 1 the end of next month.

I have 4 kids, close together in age (the "Baby" turn 30 this week). The 2 older and 1 younger brothers were always protective of their sister from not so well meaning boyfriends. Her complaint was, "Who is going to protect her from her brothers?" Ivan
