I've been reading the S&W forums for the last couple of months and decided to try out Tapatalk for iOS (v2.4.1). My main objective was to get push notifications through the iOS app for threads that I was subscribed to. Specifically the 22lr ammo thread - http://smith-wessonforum.com/smith-wesson-m-p-15-22/292430-official-stock-22lr-ammo-thread.html

Despite subscribing to the thread and ensuring push notifications are enabled on my iPhone 4S and specifically for the Tapatalk app, I can't get a push notification to happen.

I read in some threads that in 2012, "Email notifications of subscribed forums are no longer available" (see: http://smith-wessonforum.com/forum-office/275171-tapatalk-email-notifications.html). HOWEVER, I don't care about email notifications... I only care about push notifications through the Tapatalk iOS app.

Does this forum support push notifications through the Tapatalk iOS app?

It's built into the Tapatalk app.

Go in the menu and select the Notification tab.
On the top right there should be a picture of a bell.
Tap on the bell and the Push Notification option opens, and you can turn it on from there.

Thanks for the reply. I had already done that a week or so ago. I'm subscribed to several threads and I have push notifications turned on for both topics and forums (until your reply I only had it turned on for topics, but that shouldn't matter I don't think). However, I never get any push notifications and when I go to the notification page in Tapatalk, it always says "no notifications".

Curious. I get them, whenever someone quotes a post etc. They come up on both my iPad and iPhone. Not sure what vbulletin settings I have. I can check for you maybe?

You only get notifications when someone replies with a quoted post? I would guess you get notifications for all replies, no?

Well, I'm at least happy to hear that it is working for some tapatalk users on this forum. Still trying to figure out why it isn't working for me. I even tried killing the app (through iOS 7's multitask mode) with no change in behavior.

Well, no, just when the person quotes a post of mine.

Maybe try deleting the app and re installing?

Sometimes that works for me for some apps on iOS 7.

Well, I got a notification for your post, so I guess that checks out with your experience. I'm surprised that's the intended behavior. I wish I got notifications for all new posts in a thread (not just replies with a quote from me). Oh well. Thanks for the info and the help.

If anybody reading this knows how to enable notifications for all new posts in a thread regardless of quoting, please let us know.

There is a vbulletin option to 'subscribe' to a thread. I know it's available on a web browser (IE, Firefox, etc.), but I am not sure how that works in TapaTalk.

Yep, I had already done that, too. Now here's the best part - I hadn't changed anything and all of a sudden the notifications started working a couple days ago! I think the first notification I got was when you quoted me and since then all of the other notifications that I was expecting started to happen. Not sure where the glitch was or how it was fixed, but I'm happy now.

Thanks for the help!

This forum supports responsible gun ownership and a family friendly place within which to engage in polite discourse concerning an endless variety of topics..
Beyond that, I know not of this tapatalk iOS of which you speak.

Please report this to Handejector so he can see I'm being good.

Awesome! Glad it worked out.

Good.
No beating before lunch today.

DING-DING-DING-DING (thass the dinner bell ringin) :p:p:p

I don't like notifications. If you don't get any all it does is remind you that no one is interested in your thread. I use the Deadliest Catch approach. Start a thread and check it in a few hours to see if you caught anyone. If not, let it soak some more while you get on with your non-forum life...if you have one, of course.

I think you have to have the framis connected to the positive side of the encabulator. Otherwise it will be out of phase and all your talk will come out backwards.

Yeah, I know, wise guy.
