Miss Kate and I have had a couple of good seasons afield... she loves partridge hunting way up north in the big woods on the Canadian border...

She's a fine companion in the field...

... or on a road trip.

But what she really likes is to get lazy in the sun on my deck...

Man's best friend...

DOG__MAN-HOMELESS.jpg

I've often said that I like most dogs more than most people. Love and loyalty make a good dog the finest friend you could ever hope to have. Mankind was blessed when the first wolf came close to a man's fire to keep warm, and the bond has lasted ever since.

Check out this touching video. It's really beautiful.

Sweet Mama Dog Interacting with a Beautiful Child with Down Syndrome - YouTube

And this. Recently, an abandoned dog came into a nativity scene, looking for a place to find shelter from the cold. No one had the heart to move him. I hope he's since found his master or a forever home.

a few pictures of my vicious BEASTS

Fred & Sarah, they are rivals & over-achevers to see who can detect the slightest movement in the 'hood first.

A picture from the front room window. They have a lot of territory to cover.

Sarah helping me stand anchor watch on board the Carol Ann a few years back. A moose hunting trip to the Unic River area.

Last is Dandy & Fred on guard duty. Both are doxies, Fred is a wire hair, Dandy is a dapple, both rescue dogs & my reason to get up each morning.

My list of things to do today:

Let the dogs out
Let the dogs in
Let the dogs out
Let the dogs in
ETC - ETC - so on & so forth :)

Sebago, what breed of lab is that, a fat lab? I have a fat golden retriever, she likes pasta and mashed taters. Lillie has to go on a wheat and corn free diet, allergic to to corn and wheat.

Dogs understand more than people realize. Everyday gets a little brighter when I walk in the door from my crappy job and my best friend is there happy to see me.

Buddy our black lab/shepherd. First picture is around 6 months next one is closer to a year. Think he is a little over a year and a half now.

Have more recent pictures but black dogs do not show up well in pictures... and the shelter we got him from told us thats one reason people get rid of them and avoid them. His adoption fee is the best money I have ever spent... ever.

Sebago...your dog is living the life!!!

If that dog ever retires I'd be happy to apply for the job. I can pick up birds and fish and sleep on the back porch with the best of them!

Nice looking setter. Is she an English or Llewellin?

Here's my group while taking a picture for Christmas Cards.
We've always had Dachsunds since my grandpaw used to
raise/breed them for extra spending money. They are a very
loyal breed. The middle dog is "Rudy" he was a rescue dog
from the pound. Part pomeranian, schitzu, and something else.
The 2 dachsunds are "country girl" the piebald, and gretchen
the black/tan. Those who are not dog people i just don't quite
understand.

These are my entertainment every day. Kage(cinnamon) and Max(black). They were pretty easy to figure out. Max is smaller (67lbs), smart, fast, and agile and Kage is just big (86lbs), dumb, and strong lol. I love these guys. They are brothers and pure-bred Chow-Chows.

My two Doxies...Angel, a "tweenie" and Molly, a mini. Angel went to the Rainbow Bridge two years ago. I adopted her from a Doxie rescue where she was turned in as a stray. She had a lot of health issues and was at least 10 y/o when I got her, but she turned out to be the sweetest dog. I honestly believe that adopted rescue dogs show a special kind of love and appreciation to their new owners for giving them a home. The younger one in the photo is Molly. She's 8 now and has been with me since she was one. She's my shadow.

Since we lost our Golden back in '08 my wife has decided that she doesn't want to become attached to another dog.......so I have to get my "dog-fix" in other ways. I do some volunteering for a local shelter...Dec 1 & 2 I put on a Santa suit and sat for pet pictures.... here's a link to the pics on the shelter's facebook page...hope the link works.

That is one heck of an idea, I am going to pass that along to the group I am associated with. Thanks for posting.
Could be a great fund raiser. Your doing some fine work there in PA.
