Graycie says Merry Christmas!

Here's my favorite of our three land sharks. She's a boarder collie/chow mix and has more brains and personality than many members of the general public. ;) Before we got her she was a pound pooch. We sprung her from the the local county lockup.

Excellent thread!

I have two. Dakota, my 8 year old shepherd/lab mix, is my buddy. Won't leave the yard, excellent excellent watchdog, great with my son. I'm not ashamed to say i'll shed tears when he goes.

Then we have Ryley, a red Husky. Beautiful dog. She was my wife's sister's dog, but she had to get rid of her. Gorgeous dog, and extremely well tempered. Unless my son gets too close when she's eating. Me she won't nip at, him she will. Gotta break her of that. She sheds like the dickens, doesn't come when she's called, and even though I have an acre and a half back yard, that's completely fenced, she can't go out without being on a lead since she will escape.

A couple months back, we had a milk delivery guy come at 0230 (new guy with wrong address). Dakota started barking and woke us up. I opened the bedroom door to investigate. As soon as the door gets halfway open, in runs Ryley, who then jumps on my bed next to my wife. Dang scaredy cat. Of course, being on my bed covered it with fur.

And of course, just my luck, she absolutely loves me and wants to be around me constantly.

Here's our rescue pit Kayla, she's 8 now.

We got her at 6 months old.

What loving little creatures they can be!

One thing for certain with this breed, they like to be cozy and do not like to get up in the morning.

She's ALWAYS got to be touching or in a lap. Very good buddy.

Here's Koko, our 9 year old Akita. She is an awesome dog and great with our kids:

looks just like a buddies Akita 'Sheba'.
she would meet me at the door and herd me to the couch, then pull my shoes off, run and hide them.
would jump in my lap and want to be held like a baby...
she did not do this to anyone else but me.
wanted to take her home, but buddy had a different veiw.

This is Rose, AKA Rose Nose. She is a chihuahua mix. She is very submissive and not a barker or yipper. We got her just over a year ago as a rescue from the local Humane Society. She is roughly four years old. My wife has worked with her non stop over the last year and she now has her Canine good citizenship award and is certified pet therapy. My wife is a nurse at a Alzheimer's/dementia unit and takes her to work almost everyday she works. She loves napping on residence laps. She travels well and loves to go camping with us.

My wife's sister, the same one we got the Husky from, has a black and white mutt named Oreo. About a 15lb dog.

If you're sitting on a couch or chair, Oreo will run at you, jump up, and while in mid air, rotate 180 degrees and land on his back in the crook of your arm. Loves being held like a baby, and somehow has the aim and timing to land just in that "holding a baby" position. Darndest thing I've ever seen.
