It's actually a compensated. They designed it to look like the phantom flash hider. But it is definitely a comp. they even say on their site"this is not a flash hider". I'm probably going to get another for my featureless AR build.

thx guys! the handguard swap is the best upgrade i have made. Well worth the money and time. It feels so great in the hands now. So are you UK guys and gals not allowed to lhave flash suppressors? What about compensators?

Yes in the UK we can have flash suppressors and compensators, even sound moderators...but silencers/moderators have to be placed on your firearms licence.
I think the comment was in reference to the ITAR controlled products....which is erm.....everything!!! even KNS pins and VQ extractors. We can get hold of such things via Brownells UK...but at double the price. Availability and cost are a big issue when buying anything gun related over here.

Sorry to hear that ghostmutt. I can't imagine how frustrating that would be. Oh wait. I live in California, I know just how that feels.:(. Seems like there would be a great business opportunity for a U.K. version of tacticool22.
Best of luck.

There are few companies over here that stock 15-22/Ar-15 related parts but they know that stuff is hard to come by and price things up accordingly. I have been very fortunate so far that i have been able to source everything i've wanted to add to my 15-22.
I am nearly complete.......i want a new brake/compensator. I was opting for the Miculek compensator, then i saw the Strike industries cobra dummy mod and FAT comp. Now i have to decide on whether the look of a fat stubby short barrel is going to please me or to just put a brake on....reading what peeps on here think about comps/brakes on a 22lr, has me thinking the cool look of a SBR with a fat comp, is the way to go....but i'm like the wind and change as often. It will be after xmas now anyway so i have a few months to decide.

Haa haa and the wife thinks I'm done now!
then i think......mmmm new handguard and a new stock...there is always going to be more to do....but i am getting closer to my dream build.
:D

Capx28,

Regarding the handguard fit, which adapter did you get from T22?

Did you have to do any modifications to your upper?

How much of a gap do you have between the rails?

How big of an improvement was the handguard replacement?

I am looking at various different handguards but am running into issues with the ones i am liking as they all seem to have barrel adapters and a nut and not just a barrel nut, which probably wont work on the 15-22. Any info, issues and related opinions on the handguard replacement would be very welcome.

Thanks,
