Last Sunday my S7 got a forced OS update even though auto update is off. The result is a bricked phone despite trying everything I could find online. Needless to say, I'm a bit perturbed. I'm currently waiting on delivery of the Motorola G Stylus replacement today.

My Samsung is a phone, nothing more nothing less. Works so far. Had it a little over a year. Didn't cost 279.00 either.

I had different iterations of Motorolas as work phones until corporate switched to Samsung. Never a lick of trouble with the S7 until the forced update. Never had any problems with the Motorolas either.

7 years out of a cell phone, you would think you would be running back to Samsung.

No kidding. I understand the OPs frustration but thats a hell of a run. I'm on year three of having a (purchased used) S10+ that I've been very happy with.

Another very satisfied Samsung owner. S21+....But really eye-balling the new S23+.

Wife has the same one and uses it with het T-Slim isulin pump and Dexcom G6 continues glucose monitor (CGM).

I got my S20 (and is is some sort of +??) as a "refurb" 3 years ago,,
It owes me nothing,, I would get another Samsung in a heartbeat,,
if this one died,,

I have two daughters, and two SILs that are phone junkies,,
When the wife or I have a phone issue, I put out the word to the four of them,,

Within 48 hours,, a package arrives,, and I am up running again.

:D

Post pictures if you wind up shooting it with a .44 magnum or whatever caliber you have handy. I always enjoy seeing pictures of electronics shot with large caliber weapons!

My computer/cell phone Geek nephew told me years ago the only reason to go with a Samsung was they had a superior battery. I had always found it interesting how and why people choose the tools they do. Like Mac/Apple vs Microsoft, those arguments can often lead to near fist fights. I stayed away from cell phones of any kind until a couple years ago. I knew where all the pay phones were and at work carried a two way radio if out of the shop, trucks were radio equipped. My wife got hearing aids that worked with a particular cell phone and that was why we went down that road, I went along for the ride but do remember saying that if the day ever came when I would be carrying a cell phone around it was going to be able to do everything. Now I understand why some people don't use computers any longer. My only true need for a computer is that I have more to say than my thumbs can handle without major errors, a keyboard is necessary for both my wife and I. I've been using a keyboard since I was a senior in high school, over sixty years.

An inexpensive bluetooth keyboard to work with your phone, and you can get rid of your computer!
I've gone "all phone" for just about all daily tasks, but I present, teach math, and do just a bit of database work that still absulutely requires a computer, so I'll keep a sample of everything for now.
I love Samsungs, so much flexibility, and so many back doors! Lots of cross-platform leverage. I've had a few, but when I go home it's all Apple. Based on previous posts, I should probably have a fight with myself?

I got about five years out of a Note 5. I only upgraded because some of the Apps I use wouldn't work corrrectly after updating.

I went with a Galaxy S20 FE. I like it although it did take a while how to use all of the features. A bunch of things that worked one way on the old phone worked a completely different way on the new one.

I got my first cell phone back when they were big bag phones and if you got a mile out of town there were roaming charges. Long time ago but truthfully I hate the things. I have a Samsung 10 and have for 3 years now but when it conks out I may be done

My moto is a ***, can't answer calls.
Only thing in stock during covid days, or a 1k phone.
Had good luck w/samsung, until young kid grabbed from wife
and ran off, I was getting more beer. Loserville, KY
YMMV

I have a Moto G Power (AKA Stylus)
Honestly, I don't feel I am wanting for much more in terms of a pocket computard. It does everything I need it to do.
It also seems to get service where most others can't

If your s7 just gave up the ghost, you did very well. My Samsung Edge just quit after a very hard life. I replaced it with an s22. I like the phone but going to a Verizon store and the process of buying one is like going to the dentist. Without the benefit of Novacaine!
