The tics of all sizes are in full force. Been spraying the outside cats and dog with cedarcide. So far so good. I hope it’s not a warm winter. We need a cold winter to kill them off.

I feel your pain. Both of my GSD like to roll in the grass and leaves in the yard.. it's a special adventure constantly going over their coats. Thank goodness for cool weather..

If you have pets, your risk is much increased.

Hugh Hefner's widow, Crystal, has Lyme disease. She isn't much of an outdoorswoman. I wonder if she got it from that ugly dog they doted over. But they have a licensed zoo on the grounds and many pets have been in the Mansion.

I forgot whether it's fleas or ticks that cause Lyme. I think it's ticks. But neither pest is fun.

They just put out another warning on them here in the Adirondacks in NY, but mostly the southern part of the state is heavily loaded with ticks. I got bit two years ago after looking at a truck on some guy's lawn. One in the neck which came right off and the other on my left knee I had to pull out. That one hurt for a while but I got him right away.

I tried Nex Guard this year on the g-kids pet jack Russell, which stays outside 24/7 and have yet to find a tick or flea or even seen the dog scratching. That is something for Okla. I think they raise registered ticks here. :D
It's a chewable and one a month is all it takes. Heck, if I was out in the woods much anymore during summer, I might try it. ;)

Yes they are nasty!!! My sister in law got bit by a tick recently. They can really mess up your life.
She's now a liberal. BLEK!!!

Do all GSD's like to roll ?? Mine does as soon as she gets loose in the back yard ..
consist of 1 acre for ground .. she rolls around for 4-5 minutes and then is done and ready to run ..

Tic's were bad this Spring wife found 2 on her and I found a couple on a jacket I was wearing .. and Eko (my GSD) had several on her head but this summer we haven't been plagued by them ..

I do treat her with a flea and tic med and also for heart worms .. so they won't connect onto her ..

Been lots of two legged critters in the office with ticks. It’s been a BAD year for them.
I’ve had them just from my back yard, which is unusual.
The quicker you get them off, the less your chances are of contracting the NUMEROUS diseases they may carry.

I used to buy the treatment that you apply directly to their skin, but my one dog got ill and didn't handle it well. Since, I've been spraying the yard and trees hanging over once in the spring and once in the mid summer.. It generally keeps the ticks and other insects away.

Your dog sounds exactly like my 2yr old. Several minutes of flopping around like a fish begins his outdoors routine. Lol
