Stumbled across this while looking for something else. I had to share it. Totally cool. Like the title says, don't judge a book...

A friend turned me on to her a while back. I love slide guitar, and I love blues. And that woman can play!

Next time I see her down at Walmart - I will ask for her autograph!
Speaking of Bo Diddley - he lived for a while South of here down at Los Lunas, NM.
Was a deputy sheriff, don't you know-
Bo Diddley Didn't stand no mess,
he wore a gun on his hip and a rose on his chest.
Recently my Son saw one of his NM kids perform as Bo Jr.
Not good!
This is my favorite Bo Song.
Eric puts it down smooth as old Whiskey!

I've played guitar now for almost 56 years. Yep...56 years. Started when I was 13. I can't count how many bands I've played in over the years. Even played in a couple of recording bands and am currently in a band.

Now, I'm not braggin', mind you...but I could play that exact same tune, in that exact same style, the exact same way when I first picked up a guitar at age thirteen.

Now, that leaves me to conclude one of two things...1.) I was either a child prodigy or 2.) she stinks. Of course, that's just my opinion, but I probably won't be purchasing any of her CD's in the near future.

You mean......

She has skills, but I like a tune I can whistle to.
Didn't catch her name anywhere.

Joanna Connor, Chicago.

..you can't whistle to that??!!! I can. In fact I'm doing it now, if you can picture it.:D:D:D

I like watching those 'Britain's got talent' things when some dumpy, plainly dressed, not exactly pretty people open their mouths to sing and all of the judges, swoon, except for Simon. He just sits there speechless and shows no reaction. That mean's he REALLY liked what they did. If Simon doesn't have some comment they've got it made in the shade.

What style music do you play? I have a couple of ole Martin guitars that I like to play Bluegrass and Gospel on, and some easy blues and Western Swing stuff. As long as I have been playing I should be a whole lot better.

Not to hijack a thread, but currently I'm in a Southern Rock band. We also do a little country and some classic rock. Over the years, I've played everything from classic rock to bluegrass to jugband music. Have played bluegrass mandolin for 48 years and actually prefer it to guitar.

My acoustic guitars are an old Martin D-18 and a Martin D-28. My electric guitars include a couple of old Fender Telecasters and two Gibson Les Pauls as well as a 1953 Gibson ES-175. And if you know anything about mandolins, I have a 1921 Gibson F-4 and a 1989 Gibson F-5L.
