Dont know if this is a Verboten subject? but, anyone here donate an organ for $$$?

I dont know if this is an askable topic but just wondering if anyone here has ever donated an organ for money? Reason im asking is I got into a conversation Thursday w/ a bus driver who was interested in knowing more about this. A little back story. Said driver owes taxes to the tune of about $10,000 and is healthy enough and would like to see about getting a certain tax agency off his back, by making money from donating a kidney or something. He claims he saw something somewhere that a person can get around $100, 000 for doing so? As I know zilch about this--I figured his thinking price was way too high?

Anyway, if anyone knows anything on this-please let me know so I can pass it along. I tried doing a bit of research online-but what I found was imo--bs.

No, I do not think it it is legal. It has to be on the black market in some butcher shop in the back alley. I have read of folks going other Countries to do this.

I think it is allowed for a family member but all above my pay grade.

I have the same understanding as Rule3, not legal. You can give it away, but not get paid for it. What should the tax rate be on for profit organ donation?

I do not think they pay for blood anymore. I believe AIDS ended that practice. People donate blood not sell it.

I wish they would outlaw prescription drug advertising. Too many people trying to make big bucks from others' illnesses, instead of trying to help them get better.

Ringo--we have some local politicans that obviously sold their brains for organ transplants, I will ask around and find out what they got for them.

I am listed as a organ donor on my Drivers License if any of them are good when I finally go, So hopefully something can help someone. Most of them are still pretty good shape,

As I mentioned I could give a kidney to a family member if compatible.
