I was at a gunshow yesterday and as we all know, ammo is scarce, well I found out one more reason. Seems there's new legislation that keeps people from buying brass from the military. Apparently Georgia Arms had already paid for a whole crap load of rounds but their check was returned and they were told all brass will now be destroyed on the base!

I guess If they can't get the guns, get the ammo. So expect .223 to go up even more very soon!

I don't have the website handy, unfortunately, but there is a gov't site regarding surplus auctions that makes it clear that this policy pertains to old bolts, wire, and some brass which has been designated as "scrap", but specifically NOT to small-arms brass. I'll post the link when I find it, but I was looking at it just last night -- on another computer!

Not to lecture anyone, just an observation. Although I may be all wrong, I think we are creating for ourselves the recent "ammo drought". It has gotten to the point where completely unfounded rumors --I'm not saying THIS is absolutely, positively unfounded, mind -- are accorded instant credibility and get immediate widespread reaction. Has anyone considered that any manipulation going on may be manipulation designed by our opponents to make us all look like gullible, ultra-reactionary, paranoid dopes? I sometimes feel like we allow ourselves to be trolled like lake trout.

Well Georgia Arms can no longer get spent military .223 brass according to their website.

I'm not saying one way or the other on this issue, but this IS one tool that the current administration has to make it hard on gun owners. Frankly, I'm surprised they haven't EO'd import firearms and ammo yet.
