Due to the continuous stupidity regarding gun laws (and volunteer searches/confiscation) going on we've created a new logo.

This is for our new "Don't Tread On Me" movement for 2015.

It stands for responsible firearms ownership!

Gun registration, confiscation an buy back programs are un-constitutional and only affect LAW-ABIDING citizens.

Don't let history repeat itself.

Don't become a victim only because too many anti-gun people with a personal agenda are in too powerful positions.

Educate yourself first, then build your own opinion.

Here's just the logo:

It's so far the best rattler picture I got. Didn't find any this summer...

Feel free to save this image to your computer and use it to your liking. Please don't erase our logo. Thank you.

Hope ya'll have a great evening and stay safe!

Jorge,

I wish you much success with your business, and I have admired you for starting one. It's great to see folks taking hold of a piece of the American Dream and giving it their best shot, and I commend you for it.

Just a piece of advice (and probably worth what you're paying for it): unless you want to appeal only to a certain part of your potential customer base, you should be very careful in selecting images and logos that might not only drive away customers, but anger or alienate them as well.

Not everyone who enjoys the shooting sports is going to respond favorably to your selection of this particular image and motto, which in a different form has already has been appropriated by a group representing a pretty small fraction of the American public. Whether that group should have done so is a question for a different place and time; suffice it to say, many patriotic Americans consider the original image and motto to be part of our national heritage and a reminder of the sacrifices made by our forefathers to secure this blessed country for us all. To those Americans (and I consider myself one), that appropriation of a treasured symbol and motto by a group that is at best only on the fringes of the American public is disgusting and insulting.

The action taken by the modern group is, in my own opinion, very similar to that taken by groups that have appropriated the image of a flag that I, as a Southerner, consider part of my heritage, and have made it a symbol of hate and intolerance. This is likewise disgusting and insulting, and would certainly alienate me even further from those groups if that were possible.

So, with every hope for your business's success, since you have shared your 2015 logo and motto with us here on the Forum, I encourage you to think this through before you make what could be a strategic marketing mistake that would harm, rather than help, your future success.

Just one member's opinion, and shared in the spirit of helpfulness.

Looks like Navy has the same idea with their football uniforms for the Army game this weekend Jorge!

They're harkening back to the very earliest days of the American Navy, when the first Naval Jack (a flag flown by U.S. Naval vessels, and resurrected for a time after the Bicentennial celebration in 1976) was the snake on a background of red and white stripes, with the DTOM motto underneath. An entirely appropriate and historically-based tribute to the days of wooden ships and iron men that formed the foundation of the strongest and most formidable Navy in the world today. :)

Your logo is Great. Make a 3x5 flag out of it, and I'll buy it, and fly it.

To your success. I'm sure you will do good catering to ALL your customers. You can't and won't please everyone, as you are already seeing here.

When they open stores, they can use what they want.

It's a great logo!

I doubt that I will make a flag but I want to make it clear that I am not a member of any anti-government organizations and/or racial oriented hate groups!

This is just stupid and doesn't get us anywhere.

I understand that not all firearm owners are a member of the NRA. I also understand that many firearm owners are just sitting in the corner quietly and don't want to get involved.

Offending people is really easy in today's world. It's not my intention, but I also can't consult a lawyer every time before saying or posting things.

And if it wasn't clear in my earlier post, Jorge, I don't -- and didn't -- think you are. You're a valued member of this Forum and a good guy, from all I can tell, and I know that you have strong opinions on gun rights too.

Seems to me that part of the insidiousness of this whole motto business by the people who have started using it to further their own extreme viewpoints, is that what once was one of the great statements about the quest for American independence has been turned by them into an expression of their radical agenda. For me, it has ruined part of our heritage, and I suspect I am not alone in that feeling. Again, just my opinion.

My main point was that as businesspeople we need to be careful about protecting our image so customers and potential customers aren't turned off by marketing messages that, even when chosen innocently, can convey a totally different one that we had intended. It's very true, too, that using the motto will be embraced by some of your customers and potential customers, but I wonder whether in the long run it will be good for your business.

Thanks for your reply to my original post and for the nice email you sent me as well, both of which reinforce my idea that you're a fine fellow whose business success I will happily continue to hope for and to encourage.

Thank you for your kind words. I know where you coming from and understand what you are saying.

Unfortunately people abuse things and make everyone else look bad. Like a guy in OK that was running a gun scheme. "Buy online, pay and never receive the product" was his motto I guess. Glad he got caught. But it still make everyone else that deals online look bad.

This one deserves a B.T.T.T. so everyone can have a chance to read it.
Damn son that's good.

Thank you, I appreciate it :)

Great concept, but I have a hard time seeing the snake's head/face.

Thank you. And yeah, I too have a hard time seeing the head. But this is so far the best rattler picture I've got. It's 2 years old and last summer I didn't find any snakes in the field.

I might keep the concept but switch out the snake. We'll see. Nothing is written in stone.... just the fact that I want to use my own picture(s) :)

I've always had it for the 'Don't Tread On Me' flag. It's a good symbol of what we are fighting for. Can you make buttons, patches, bumper stickers, posters etc.

As much as I appreciate you having interest in my design, but I will have to change it again. It will need a plain background, also the snake will need some fine tuning.
