Nope! I think if the kid isn't ready for a BB gun or a .22; one of these won't be worth Diddly! Frankly they aren't worth Diddly because they teach the wrong "things" about guns in my opinion. Just like TV & Hollywierd - a kid grows up with one of these in his hand and he's going to "learn" that guns don't "Kill" they just hit you with this little soft rubber thing and everything is OKie-DOKie!!! Just look at the lousy way he's handling that thing!!! If you want to use these as a "teaching tool" then teach the right things from the beginning!!!

Not to mention the number of 'little people' who have gotten shot or come TOO close for comfort by LEOs thinking they are real guns. That Orange piece of plastic on the end accepts black paint real well!!!

Thats a cute kid Gator. I would love to have had one of those when I was a kid. I never had a baby sitter like Shooboy's pic though.

Muzzle in a safe direction, fingers off the trigger. Looks good to me handling wise.

I'm not sure that he's got any cans of spray paint ready to modify it. I'll keep that in mind though.

LE shootings of kids with toy guns are rare, which is why they are newsworthy. When it does happen, it's usually not exactly a "kid" and they usually weren't innocently playing, rather they were robbing the locals or doing a strong arm robbery. A somewhat biased anti gun media takes it and runs with it.

I'd wager that the majority of the "boomer" age gun owners grew up with far more realistic toy guns, and that those of my age bracket grew up with the Laramie and Edison 1:1 scale water gun Uzis and capguns without incident.

I grew up just fine, thanks. Played with lots of realistic looking toy guns, BUT, had the common sense not to point it at a cop. Cops didn't exactly run rampant in our backyard while playing army, but hey, you never know.

I am to old now to say that is unsafe. I grew up with toy guns as well as every other kid that was born after WWII. I never shot anybody or committed a crime with a gun. Also read Playboy just like Ted Bundy, but never raped or murdered any women. Also watched the cartoons where people jumped off cliffs, but knew better than to do it myself. There are valid arguments from both sides, but I think it is fine to let a little kid be a little kid. However I don't agree with going to school all day and doing homework all night. Kids need to play. Run, jump, shout, play outside, and just be kids again.

Good lord, man! You can't substitute small children for rabbit and quail in recipes!
