So i picked up a Bushnell Trophy TRS-25 1X Red Dot Sight, now i removed the back site, and just use the red dot and the front site, is this acceptable or would you guys keep the back one on, in case red dot fails.? Seems easier for me to aim without the back site.

The only reason I have iron sights (front & rear) is in case my red dot die's and I don't have any spare battries

I still can aim & shoot

I would either ditch the front sight too since it isn't currently serving a purpose and can easily be re-attached if something fails, or get a rear folding sight.

I prefer a fixed front with a rear folder. I don't keep them on in case something fails though. I like to shoot with the irons just as much as I do with the dot, so they stay mounted.

Time for some folding back up sights.

I'd remove the front site as well and just carry an extra battery for the optic. This is not a combat rifle and you're not going to get shot if your optic fails. Bushnell makes a good product, and the odds of really needing backup irons on a range toy/small game rifle are pretty low. Most likely you're just lugging around unnecessary weight.

What he said but I would go (have gone) with folding sights. Not because I'm in a combat situation but because I still enjoy shooting irons.

As GopherSlayer mentioned, I shoot both of them. I just kept the folding ones on there more for back-up as I mounted a scope on there now.

hey gopherslayer is that a fake can and if so what can makes it look like a sbr thanks

Same sight

I have the same sight .... I don't have a riser and therefore have to take the irons off. Shot today, took off the red dot and put the irons on... only took a couple of minutes to get thing in the bulls eye.

I just picked up a full set of new in box MBUS, shipped for $45 even.
In black I might add, just the way I like'um.

Ahhh. Thanks
Nope, an AR guy that had to have Troy and had already bought these

What did you get that it's a full set for $45 shipped... the link and site show the best price is $39.95 for the front only?!
Yes, both front and rear Gen II MBUS. I got a good deal. They are very nice too. I had to move my RDot foward, the rear takes more room than the stocker. I posted where I got them...

He did also say something about heat.? & This was an additional reason for having to go Troy. Someone told him they would warp. Not sure what he ment or why they would warp, didnt care Ither, just wanted the hella deal!
I got them today, they are Gen II. The site I posted is the Magpul site where the other dude bought'em.

But now that Im thinking about it..... These are not gonna "warp" right? Its not like Im keeping the rifle in my truck window

If the front sight is mounted to a gas block rail heat can become an issue with the polymer. Not an issue on the 15-22, and much less of an issue for a standard AR mounting the sight on a railed handguard unless you're doing mag dumps and firing a hundred rounds in a minute.

Well see there.... That makes sense. Wasnt thinking that dirrection.
