Normally I would be set up here in Dothan, but I am not inclined to waste the July 4th weekend sitting inside and being bored.
I am not sure why the promoter insists on doing the show this weekend but this is the second year in a row.
I may go on Saturday for a look-see but that will be it.
Hours: Saturday 9AM to 5PM Sunday 10AM- 3PM
Where: National Peanut Festival Fairgrounds HWY 231 South in Dothan.
Free Parking
Cost: "Varies" I am not sure what this is supposed to mean. Most shows
Charge $6 to $7 per day with an optional "Weekend Pass".

RE: Saturday Visit to the Dothan Gun Show

Well,
I was vastly wrong about the admission price. I guess that they are trying to make up for what they lost during the shut down. Admission was $9.00 in cash or $10.00 if you used a card.
There were bare spots on the floor, which is better than empty tables.
There were hundreds of new guns available from FFLs, lots of used long guns from one dealer, very few reasonably priced pieces available. Ammo seemed to be available, but at premium prices. CCI .22 +$90 a brick.
Lots of hats, t-shirts, Chinese knives, stun guns, BBQ rubs, Hot Sauce,
used USGI packing cases, other Chinese "martial arts" wares, some real USGI surplus and genuine Militaria. Overall, if you sort out the real Dealers about 1/2 of the show would qualify as a Flea Market.
I spoke with numerous vendors I know and all were bored to tears. The only folks I actually saw selling stuff were a few guys with ammo.
The only guys actually getting any money were the promoters and food vendors.
At $60 a table and $9 admission I believe that I have been to my last
commercial show in Alabama put on by CASC.
There are a few shows put on by area clubs in the surrounding towns. I will give them a try.
I think that a lot of the local folks were as disappointed as I was in the Dothan Flea Market.
The total time in the building was less than 30 minutes. Debbie only made it 3/4 of the way on the concrete. I finished the aisles and then took her to a late lunch on the way home.
Lots of folks traveling in and around Dothan, some heading south to Florida's beaches.
Glad we are safely home.
Everybody have a Happy and Safe 4th of July.

Quite a few southerners come to Louisville for National Gun Day. The next one is Oct 9 & 10. Not cheap but it's usually a good show with most all the big Gun Broker sellers scouring the show for bargains. I'm expecting the mandatory sales tax now on GB to help ftf gun show sales. C&R license lets you buy 1970 and older cash and carry if you're out of state.

National Gun Day - the best national gun show

A lot of those heading for South Florida beaches were stuck on I-75 today. It is raining and there are always accidents and stopped traffic for hours at a time. I am 120 North of St Pete and traffic was stop when I went over a overpass at 3:30 this afternoon. Not sure while all the idiots are heading South with nothing but rain and at least a tropical storm heading straight at Florida. I just hope they don't plan on staying.
